  1. Long time since this has been posted in.. wondering if any current students are around here and can give any info on best places for housing or recreation. Thanks!
  2. Hey guys! I need a little bit of help on this one even though its probably pretty straightforward, and this seemed to be the best place to ask. I applied to 4 schools, rejected from top school A, got into pretty good school B with really awesome advisor and great funding, and no news since Jan from good schools C and D. So obviously A is off the table, but I got accepted off the waitlist for school B- so my advisor needs me to say yes/no ASAP. I emailed schools C and D a few weeks ago asking for admissions updates, but they have yet to respond to me. Didn't have interviews at those two schools and am less qualified for those projects. My question here is this- should I go ahead and formally accept school B's offer? And if so, should I send a courtesy email to C and D letting them know I accepted somewhere else? Thanks in advance guys, I appreciate the input!
  3. Almost exactly the same here! (Got one soft/unofficial reject, had one good interview for a different school but waiting to hear back about the results from that, and radio silence from the other two. Wrote them earlier this week and haven't heard anything either.) I think you've got the right idea about the weekend though!
  4. Hey guys! Not sure if anyone else is in the same boat, but so far I have heard absolutely nothing from any of the 4 schools I applied to (latest app submission deadline 1/15). Wondering if yall think this is an indicator of waitlisting? I have seen other folks self-reporting they got in at a few schools/ were invited for visiting weekends. I did meet with one professor at a conference back in Oct, but no word from the school since I submitted my app. Please feel free to share your experiences on this, I definitely have been driven mad over this!
  5. Out of that list, I’m waiting to hear back from Wyoming for Geology PhD! No word as of yet, but had spoken in person with prof at U Wyo last semester, so hopefully good things. Fingers crossed for you my friend!
  6. Been combing through the past year's application threads, looking at dates and stats. Do you guys know if admissions committees view masters and PhD applications separately/notify them at different times?
  7. Same! I've researched all the areas and price ranges and potential TA stipends to see what I could possibly afford. I think it helps give some aspect of control in your life back while you're waiting!
  8. Second this! If there's enough good reporting, I would love to see the Geology spread. Thanks for making these- even though the posted ones are not my discipline, still cool to see!
