  1. Ha, forgot about the Yale water. My interview was all small talk, nearly. I wasn't ready and super nervous. Where you are coming from, where in town you are staying, etc. Then they asked about influences, favorite movie. Whose work I was looking at around that time. They asked why Yale, and then why Yale should admit me. Then they asked if I had anything else to say. Then it ended. This year I did not get an interview. I wish everyone traveling to New Haven the best of luck! Sometimes the students may deliver a critique or borderline underhanded line. Don't get distracted. Ive read in this forum that they do it to see how you react under pressure? Haha.
  2. Based on the grad cafe results database Bard sends invites 7-10 February. (Holding onto nuggets of hope)
  3. Almost same but I got rejected the first time, interviewed last year, and hopeful this year. Best of luck!
  4. *whimpers*
  5. I think you'll be fine - I think most interviews take place in March. Some schools post their projected interview dates (Bard for instance has not sent out finalist decisions but it says on the website that the interviews will take place on March 3) You may even have a decision to celebrate by April!
  6. I think @Sylvieee got one! Last year I got an interview and I got a hit the Wednesday of the week they announced finalists. PS Sorry that I write 'Last year when I got an interview...' in every post lol it's my only reference point. Best of luck to everyone! One week to go!
  7. I think the 167 interviewees are across all four departments, not just painting. When I interviewed last year there were around 40-45 slots for 20 spots. I imagine the number is lower for Photo and Sculpture. edit: the article does say that there were 70 finalists for 21 spots for painting - sorry!
  8. way to go!! probably a good sign. did you apply for painting?
  9. Thanks for your input! Looks like I am not alone. Best of luck with your applications
  10. Dear @Advice4MFA, @Yetti and all the other generous MFA students who are chiming in. I was wondering what you thought about re-using work when re-applying to certain schools. For my 20-piece work limit, I am submitting 17 new pieces. There are 3 small pieces that I submitted last year to Yale and Columbia but did not get a chance to show in the interview. I think as the initial steps to my 2017 work they are significant. Do you think I should omit them? Or include them again? All best! Happy holidays everyone!

    Statements

This is for Creative Writing, but I came upon it while doing researched and really loved it, not only as a statement but a great, witty and succinct piece of writing: http://jamesmcgirk.com/mfa-personal-statement/ @a_photo
  12. I did the Virtual Open House. Takeaways = portfolio is super important, they value tradition, there is no 'right' candidate, they are looking for a mixture of conceptual maturity and promise of growth. Show/Gallery exhibit experience not very necessary, at least not a priority.
