  1. UCSF Tetrad interview invite! Came last night! Thanks!! Good to know!
  2. Anyone else apply to UPenn CAMB? Last year they sent out invites the 14th and 15th of December.
  3. Definitely before Christmas is normal, but this I'd say is still early. Looking at posts from last year, people were hearing back pretty consistently around mid-December. So I'd still give it until the end of this week if not later into next week!
  4. Awww, sadly I'll be there (at UG, not Notre Dame!) February 8-10 unless another interview conflicts! I have my WashU interview that weekend in January!
  5. Same, University of Georgia has started sending out invites for their Integrated Life Sciences program
  6. I got an email from them yesterday morning for Molecular Genetics and Genomics in DBBS, so it may be program related. I also currently work at WashU, so am already affiliated with the university. I wasn't expecting to even start hearing back from places until like the 15th or the week of the 18th. Not sure why this one came so early, but I think most places that start early usually start mid-December, so no need to get nervous yet!!
  7. I think it depends on the program, but I've already received 1 interview invite Edit: And have seen others starting to get some too
  8. Got an interview invite for Washington University's DBBS program just now! (Molecular Genetics and Genomics)
  9. I did my undergrad at Ohio State, it's an amazing school, atmosphere, city, and community! Good luck!
  10. I'd say depending on the AW score, the 2nd is more impressive overall even if you got two points lower in verbal.
  11. Yeah I totally understand the stress/anxiety around it! If you have the funds, I'd say still worth applying and if you get accepted, just double checking the PI would be interested in taking you on also. Good luck!
  12. Some universities in the US will post on their faculty webpage list if they are taking graduate students or not. Usually, I'd say apply to schools that have at least 5 POIs that you would be interested in working with. That will leave you with room to spare if some of them are not taking students. I'd say it's on a per person basis of preference for people who email potential PIs BEFORE they submit their application. It is not necessary and really unless you want to be absolutely sure they're taking graduate students to determine if you're going to apply there, I wouldn't worry too much. If you're worried, once you've applied and are possibly accepted to programs you can email PIs and make your final decision based on if labs you are interested in or not are going to be taking students. But I wouldn't worry about it before apps are due, just apply to programs that have many labs you would be interested in and then mention 2 or 3 of them and the work they are doing in your SOP/Personal statement.
  13. So, I am currently a US Citizen and one of the schools I am applying to is U Toronto, their Molecular Genetics program. The websites states that I have to obtain a sponsorship from a faculty member in order to even submit an application. I have already met with a faculty member and gained a sponsorship, but have never really been explained what exactly this means/the commitment that entails? Would someone be able to explain? Thanks!
  14. Looking for someone to look over my Genetics Personal Statement, I'd be happy to swap with you!
  15. I have one for Genetics PhD programs if you want to exchange!
  16. I'm having a hard time going back and forth between what and how I want to to open my personal statement with. Wondering if anyone has any examples they think are really good/any suggestions on how to make an impression with that first paragraph? Thanks!
