Help with sending GRE scores to Georgetown
nycpolicy replied to jontwk's topic in Government Affairs Forum
I checked, 5244 is not a department code at all. From what I understand on the link, there is no specific department code. I think the best way would be to email a screenshot of your order confirmation when you first sent your GRE scores + all of your valid info including your GRE registration number and ask them to check in their records again. This happened to me in one of my schools and they asked for this information. After a bit of following up they were able to find and verify my scores. If this doesn't work, send them the screenshot you pasted above and ask them what the net step should be. -
Every application I've filled so far has included this question, with only one (NYU Wagner) stating directly that the answer will have no bearing on admission decisions. TBH, it freaks me out. How important/trivial is the answer to this question? What exactly are adcoms using it for? How should you answer this question for your No. 1 school?

SIPA MPA Fellowship deadline extended?

@wittgensteinsbladder what exactly did you write to the office? -
SIPA MPA Fellowship deadline extended?

That doesn't make sense. If we would've submitted the application by 5th then why would we need an extension? I'll write to them as well right now and update on response. -

Was anyone able to get a response from admissions on this? The blog/website is still not updated with the dates. -

SIPA MPA Fellowship deadline extended?
nycpolicy replied to nycpolicy's topic in Government Affairs Forum
I doubt that it's going to reflect anywhere else right now. I also tried calling them but its outside office hours now. The question is, is everyone here taking the extra time? I would really love to..but don't know if it would reflect negatively on the final application :/ Thoughts? -
SIPA MPA Fellowship deadline extended?

And has this gone only to the MPA applicants? In that case it would seem fishy to me. -
Pasting part of an email I received from SIPA about an hour ago. Did anyone else get this or is his some sort of mistake :/ I could definitely take the extra time to get some of my materials reviewed, but don't want to risk it -

Importance of LoR writer's designation

@Damis thank you so much for the detailed reply - your points were extremely helpful in cementing my decision regarding the third recommendation!! -
Hey guys, help me out here. My checklist was completed on 12/22 (had an additional requirement due to international undergrad) and I haven't received an email yet on my application being forwarded to the committee. I had emailed them on 12/11 with an update on the additional requirement and they said that my file is waiting to be reviewed for completeness. There have been a ton of holidays in between so that's probably the reason, but should I still reach out to NYU and ask what's up (maybe on 5th which will be the 2 week mark since my checklist was complete) or should I just wait it out? I'm hesitating because I have already contacted them once.

Has anyone received anything on their application being forwarded to the Admissions committee yet?

Hi @StyLeD I'm applying for regular decision in a couple of days. Can you please tell me which cohort is bigger, the MIA or MPA? As per the statistics here :https://sipa.columbia.edu/careers/employment-statistics/miampa-employment-statistics-year the MPA program admits substantially more students, but I read on past Grad Cafe forums that the MIA is the older and larger program. Perhaps the statistics above are counting the 2 year MPA and non-2 year MPA student numbers? Also,

I am applying for MPA/MPP programs. Long story short, I held two roles in my earlier job. In the first one my work was not related to policy/administration - I was part of a 2 member team working on the company's latest product, and reported to the CEO of the company. In the second one I worked directly with governments, NGOs, impact eval agencies, again not exactly public administration, but as close as I could get in a private company setting, and with the kind of clients I would be working with after graduating from an MPA/MPP degree - in this role I reported to the head (VP) of the department. I am getting recommendations from the VP for all my schools, but should I get one from the CEO simply because he is a CEO? I have no doubt that he will write a good recommendation for me, but I worry that it will not serve my overall narrative. Still does the 'CEO' tag hold a lot of weight with AdComs?
