  1. Will the scores get matched in addition to the test date or only the date?
  2. Where exactly is the checklist located? I can see the 'submitted' symbol next to the name and my entire application in HTML format but nothing else...
  3. I'm also putting additional Economics courses that I couldn't fit in the main application + employment gap application as a separate document. @gelatinskeleton I think it's a good idea to put that info - shows the uni that you care and are honest about your skills! @ All, how are we supposed to answer 'how do you intend to finance your graduate education' if you've ticked the 'applying for financial support' section. Do they mean to ask how you woul finance IN CASE you do not receive any funding? So confusing :/
  4. A fundamental doubt: Is it okay for your topic and recommendations to be based on something that you worked on professionally? The guidelines do state that the topic should be of significance to your professional goals which in this case it is, but as a reread, I'm wondering if there is a line between an issue you already know a lot about and have worked on verses exploring something different. Thoughts?
  5. Damn that completely slipped my mind. I have it at 11 right now :/
  6. I don't remember where, but I read somewhere that annotations are not necessary. On another note, what exactly does Princeton mean by 'Department' when they say it should be on each page of the SOP/Policy memo etc?
  7. Bumping this up since I'm looking for exactly the same thing a.k.a MPP/MPA programs which would allow some degree of tailoring/specialization in education policy albeit with an international focus (international student want to work in developing countries after graduation). In my understanding, Penn Fels is domestic-policy focused, but not sure of the others mentioned on this thread. Please suggest programs that would work!
  8. I'd also like to know others' opinions on this. Is it even worth applying to WWS if none of your stats match up to those given in their viewbook?
  9. Calling all CUNY 2018 applications - which colleges are you applying to, how is the process going? Baruch extended their Spring 2018 deadline to December 15. I don't really know what to think about that, but will likely submit my application till then anyway. Anyone else?
  10. Anyone here applying to Baruch Marxe?
  11. Nope - just the list of recipients, and then information about the score report. What reason did you give for censoring score recipients?
  12. When I took the GRE I wasn't 100% on the course I wanted to apply to at a particular university, so I had my scores sent to two of its schools. Now that I'm sure of the course and filling it's application, I don't want that school to see that I'd also sent my scores to another school at the same uni, lest it shows I'm confused. So can I just upload the first page of the unofficial score report on the application - will it be looked upon suspiciously?
  13. Hope everyone was able to submit their apps last night. This wait till March is going to be killing - best of luck to all of us!!
  14. Yes the fellowship application is with the general ones. Some require essays, but for others you just need to tick a box if your'e interested. Are you all doing webcam videos or going more creative?
  15. Thanks for your inputs. Is admission to Yale Jackson as competitive as WWS? TBH I didn't know that SIPA had such a high admissions rate before I started frequenting these forums. At this point of time I am more confident of getting in but what I meant in my original post is that I feel with any Ivy it's a gamble. Stellar credentials don't always guarantee admission.
  16. Awesome, all the best! It seems pretty weird to me that there is such a large gap between the first and second deadlines..any idea why that is so?
  17. I didn't see a post dedicated to NYU Wagner 2018 applicants so here goes! Is anyone applying by the December 1st deadline? How are your applications shaping up?
  18. Thanks. Yeah I checked out Maxwell and though it seems like I great program, there is no way I can live at home in NYC and attend. What do you think of Princeton WWS and Yale Jackson? Of course both highly prestigious in their own right, but are they known for their international focus? Both will take me around 2 hours to reach one side which is difficult but not impossible.
  19. Hey @yellina122 sorry for the late reply. Essentially I am looking for 2 things to do with my degree - a. Gain an international focus (I want to work around the work after graduating, so don't want to get stuck with a school too focused on domestic issues), b. Gain a practical skill set that say be applied in a developing country setting. Coming from this background, and being a person who is not the best 'student', I do not want to get stuck in a highly theoretical course load.
  20. Hi all, would love some feedback on my chances - Program: MIA where available, else MPA/IA programs Schools Applying To: Columbia SIPA, NYU Wagner, CUNY Baruch, Fordham IPED, The New School Milano, Rutgers Newark. As you can probably tell, I need to live in NY for personal reasons, hence the above choices. HOWEVER, I am also considering applying to Yale Jackson and Princeton WWS (a bit put off by the uber small clas size tho) and Tufts Fletcher, BU Pardee. Interests: Education and International Development Undergrad Institution: #1 ranked college in India for Business and Commerce within top university in India [I will be applying as an international student] Undergraduate GPA: My university doesn't calculate G.P.A but I graduated with 1st Division, should be around 3.5/4. Undergraduate Major: Economics GRE: 159 V, 162 Q, 5.0 AWA TOEFL: Haven't received scores yet but confident of at least 105 [Does it really make a difference tho?] Quantitative Courses: Microeconomics and Macroeconomics up till intermediate level, Statistics Methods in Economics, Mathematical Methods for Economics, Introductory Econometrics, Linear Algebra and Calculus. Sponsored by workplace for 1 week Executive Education program from J-PAL on Evaluating Social Programs. Years of Work Experience: 3 years full-time not including any internships etc. Age: 24 Languages: Hindi (native), English (fluent), French (basic) Work Experience: 3 years working in a top education sector firm in India. Developed and launched an adaptive and personalised learning product for English as a first and second language. Spearheaded multiple successful grant applications to large, international NGOs for bringing the product to public schools in India. Executed capacity building programs for large scale government clients. Have one publication from this time. In college, worked for 3 years as part of an international organization, creating business models for communities most in need. Led a project working with traditional puppeteers from start to finish and acted in advisory positions after graduation. 1 month internship with Action Contre La Faim in Nepal. LORs: 1 from supervisor at my workplace. 1 from professor of microeconomics from college. In places that require a third I will get it either from CEO of my workplace who I also worked directly with, or faculty advisor who oversaw my work at the international organization in college. SOPs: Exploring the link between my global upbringing (lived and studied in 6 countries being from a diplomatic family) to my interest in development, deep work in public education setting in India to now wanting a set of schools to jump-start international career in education. Concerns: 1. GRE - I know it is not the most impressive for SIPA, but am I safe for the other programs, especially NYU? 2. Is this a good range of schools? In New York my options are limited so I think I've pretty much covered them all. Are there any I am missing tho? Outside the city, I'm looking at colleges within 6 hours so that I can make a trip home on the weekends at least. If all else fails, I am open to applying in DC and would appreciate recommendations based on my profile. 3. I would also like to go to a school which has a strong 'international' profile. I am looking to work internationally after graduation so do not want to go to some place focused on domestic US policy. Are there any like that on my list? 4. Though I have worked in the field of education, the company is a private limited firm. Will it be an issue that it is not a public sector firm or NGO?
