  1. @songofgallifrey Ive seen clinical and ccn for umich appearing but not for biopsych which is where I applied. Your invite was sent by the department or your POI? and congratulations on the invites!
  2. Congratulations! Hopefully you get a few more ay. (Wasn't this also the one you had trouble with the application? Hahah)
  3. Going on a bender till February. See you guys then hahaha
  4. I'm starting to think most applicants who have been narrowed down have been contacted by POIs for either informal interview and/or interview invites. Searching the results for past years trends seem to indicate the same thing. I guess Dec 15 applications and jan 1st applications are still being reviewed but Dec 1st applications seem to be done
  5. Having not heard from WIsconsin-Madison I dont know if that's a good or bad thing. Furthermore, none of the POIs I emailed, skyped me or even discussed anything in length over e-mail. oh wells.
  6. I applied to wisconsin and UMN as well. so frustrating seeing others get some feedback when I feel like i'm fumbling in the dark. On some level I tell myself to take it that I've gotten rejected and to start planning for the new year with work and applying next cycle :S
  7. my "safer" schools were Missouri and NEU. I applied to Indiana University Bloomington and OSU as well! Although I initially shortlisted Colorado for their social neuroscience, I didn't feel that the research of the profs there were as good a fit for me. oh and my undergrad was from SUNY Buffalo!
  8. totally off topic but i love your username hahah. like someone else mentioned, hopefully your master's gpa helps with your gre scores. sounds like you've got quite a bit of publications as well so that hopefully helps as well!
  9. hopefully we wont need to go through this ordeal all over again hahah. though that said ive prepared myself to do it once more next year. fingers crossed i'll see you in Berkeley ay?
  10. I am! though I'm applying to psychology.
  11. Jumping in here late cos now there's not much else to do but ruminate and worry ahahah :'( Program of interest: My interests are in affective neuroscience, psychopathology (drug addiction and schizophrenia) and cognitive architecture. Schools you have looked at: so i have a few schools from each of the reach, within ability, and safe categories Number one worry about applying: almost everything tbh. I have a mediocre GPA (3.63), an alright GRE (322), quite a bit of research experience, hopefully solid recommendation letters (1 from undergraduate research supervisor, 1 from my current boss/PI, and 1 from an undergraduate professor I kept in contact with). The undergraduate professor said my research experience makes me competitive but I've applied to progs where neuroimaging or translational research is big and I don't have hands on experience with these. Some I spoke to have told me grad school is for you to learn, otherwise they'd be looking for post-docs. Some others told me they got rejected because they didn't have relevant experience. i'm not sure i'm competitive anymore Now cherry on the icing on the cake, three schools have not received my transcipts, gre scores, or both. I double checked addresses and codes and they still havent received them. Berkeley just told me "Not all GRE scores automatically matched applications. I'll ask our Graduate Admissions tech support team to look into this and get back to you. Your application will be reviewed without the official score report." so yay. fingers crossed for the rest!
  12. I'm not sure if I'm a good authority on this (I should have a PhD on procrastination by now), but if it's any comfort, I just sent out some emails to some POIs I recently shortlisted after cutting some others
