Just got invited for a skype informal interview @ NYU. Feeling nervous! I still need to submit 2 more applications ?

I'm in the same position as @oddity. I had a skype interview with a social/developmental prof, but I was informed by the prof that I didn't get invited to the official interview. I haven't heard anything since then - judging by postings in past years, they seem to be pretty late with rejections (early April). I'll also be applying there again next year (or the next year...)!

Unfortunately I think it's time to for me to come to terms with the fact I need a backup plan Fun plan: abandon academia/research/psychology (/my life goals) and become a dog trainer. Because that won't provide a substantial income, I'll also be a competitive pokemon player on the side. My serious backup plan: Get an RA / lab manager / whatever job for a year and try again! The supervisor that I'm currently a research coordinator is retiring this summer, so she can't continue to give me experience and money for much longer. Speaking of which, I was wondering: does anyone knows of any resources/forums/mailing lists to hear about (paid) RA position openings? I'm hoping to get one in social psychology - hopefully in prejudice/stereotyping/intergroup relations / something relevant to that. I know I should check potential supervisor's websites frequently, maybe also look at their social media (especially their twitters), and I'm on the SPSP mailing list. Does anyone know any other good resources? Thanks for any help anyone can offer!

For 2 of the schools I applied to (Northwestern & UW), I didn't contact the POIs (mostly b/c I was a bit slow in actually, you know, getting to the point of actually reading their research) but I still ended up hearing back from UW & being told I'm a strong candidate. I agree with others... I think it's too late to go back on your choice now. Best of luck!

If anyone's heard back from Yale or Princeton in Social Psych, I'd be interested in their POI!

At this point, I'm just waiting until tomorrow for all of my hopes and dreams to be crushed. I'm sure many others are in the same boat. Also, for an update on UW interview invites, POI told me that the faculty will have area meetings in early/mid January, and then applicants will receive official invites after that (early-mid Jan).

Hi everyone, Just wanted to jump in here and say I'm also applying for social psych PhD programs. I'm only applying to 6 schools and they're almost all reach schools: Stanford, Princeton, Yale, Northwestern, University of Washington, UC Berkeley. I'm an international (Canadian) applicant. Every time I see another person say that they've heard back about interviews from one of the above schools, I freak out a bit. Also, I've been checking my email constantly for the past week (but haven't heard anything). Good luck to all with applications! Oh, and @nicokren I've been wondering the same thing about who has already been sending out interview offers at Northwestern.
