  1. Thanks, that's my hope from EWU. So far it looks like the people that have heard back have all been accepted...I'm hoping that a lack of response means I'm at least on the waitlist somewhere.
  2. Thanks, I have been checking there as well. Here is my update on PSU (Portland State): "We are reviewing all applications to our program that met BOTH of the following guidelines: Status of COMPLETED or VERIFIED by midnight EST 1/15/2018. Fully VERIFIED by 1/23/2018." Apparently CSDCAS didn't verify my application until February 3, so it was not evaluated at all. I sent my transcripts before the deadline but they were not 'received' until after the 15th of January. There is a way to check your application complete and verified dates, if you download the pdf application from CSDCAS. It sucks to hear, but there is nothing I could have done personally. I have been so strapped financially I was unable to pay for transcripts or GRE scores at an earlier date. Still holding out for EWU.
  3. I suppise I feel a little better that I'm not the only one. Although I can tell you that it isn't the distance, I'm currently attending the post-bacc program at PSU. I emailed the department today, so maybe there will be an update tomorrow.
  4. I have two programs to hear back from, yet browsing the results boards leads me to believe that both of these programs have made their decisions. I am waiting to hear back from Portland State University and EWU. Does anyone know what it means if I haven't heard from these programs yet? I have received other communications from each school during the application process, so I know they should have my current email address. I'm just nervous and a little frustrated, as I've only received negative news so far and I'm hoping for at least a waitlist somewhere. I know PSU (Portland) provided information about waitlist status (for those that heard back), but I am not sure about EWU.
  5. I thought everyone had to take an additional examination in addition to finishing the master's degree in order to receive their CCC's. I think as long as the program is certified by ASHA (even within developing status) it should be fine. Although I would like to confirm this as well!
  6. First off, congratulations! I don't necessarily have insight on the programs themselves, but one of my friends graduated from San Diego State a few years back and she had a difficult time finding work in a medical setting locally, not due to her qualifications but moreso the availability. It seemed odd to me because now I've heard there is a high demand for SLPs in California (but the people telling me this are in school settings). I know another poster mentioned that where you go doesn't necessarily dictate where you work, and I've seen that here in Portland as well. If you want to go to grad school where you plan to live after however, I would consider the demand of medical SLPs in each area.
  7. Has everyone that applied to Portland State heard back? I saw that several people heard back yesterday, but I didn't receive anything...and I go there. :/
  8. There are some developing programs that are accepting applications through April 1st if this is an option for you. I personally am considering applying to a couple as I have had negative news as well. Also Nova Southeastern is accepting applications for Winter 2019 and they don't require GRE scores. I just spoke with someone that graduated from there, and she said she was able to work on campus to cover out of state tuiton costs if that's a concern for you. The Sped department at my college also recruits many speech students, which can boost your resume and lead to other professional options in the meantime. Maybe this is an option in your area as well. Good luck, I really hope this works out for you! Don't lose hope on your waitlist options either!
  9. Thanks for the supoort! It's nicw to hear from someone who has been in a similae situation. As a second year applicant, did you continue to take courses? And/or were you still able to get academic letters of rec? I think that's the main thing I'm nervous about for next year (if I don't get good news from EWU).
  10. I totally feel you. So far I've only received rejections, not even on a waitlist and I only have 1 school left to hear from (well, technically 2, but PSU sent an email with CSDCAS verification deadlines and apparently my app wasn't processed by that date, so that's pretty much a rejection as well). The NSSHLA board at my school actually sends out an email every year reminding students to be conscious and avpid talking about tbw application process because they know how tough it can be, so that's nice. But it still sucks waiting with no good news. I mostly feel guilty I asked for help paying for apps to schools I didn't even get into. :/
  11. Ok, thanks! I did receive the confirmation through CSDCAS, so I'm hoping it's just because it's peak time for them to be going through apps and things. As long as I didn't throw away $70 in applying at this point I'll be happy.
  12. Oh ok, that makes sense. That makes me feel better, I was under the impression before that nothing could be done. At least it sounds like they take effort at improvement into account?
  13. Has anyone that applied later heard from Midwestern at Glendale, even just a confirmation that the application was received? The deadline wasn't until March 1, so i applied at the end of February (sine that's when I could afford to).
  14. Aelwood14, what courses were you able to retake? I've seen a number of people post that they were recommended to retake courses that weren't A's, but as far as I was told previously I could only retake courses below C-? soontobeslp2018, I can relate to your anxiety. I have only received rejections so far, and I was only offered 1 interview (although many of the schools I applied to didn't conduct interviews). I thought I gave myself enough options, but had to cut my choices in half because I couldn't afford to send more applications in January. I just received an email from PSU telling us what applications they're reviewing, and it looks like CSDCAS didn't process my materials in time to be considered even though I submitted them long before those dates. As a post-bacc that is almost finished with a second degree, I'm not sure how much more experience I can acquire to boost my application for next year if I don't get in now. I'm afraid I won't be able to get adequate letters of rec next year since I won't be currently enrolled. It's just frustrating. Sorry if this wasn't super helpful. Apparently I'm having a difficult time with this waiting game too.
  15. For anyone waiting on University of Washington, I just got my email. And the portal is updated too. (Sadly, I've been rejected, but good luck to the rest of you!)
