Hi everyone! I've looked at previous questions about this, but I'm still not sure of anything definitive. I took my first GRE about a week ago, knowing I would probably take it twice. The first time I got a 149 V 151 Q 4.5 AW. I know that I want to try to raise my score, but if I do worse on one section on my second test but better on another for the first test, do schools super score? I've read that CSDCAS might super score, but I was just curious if anyone had any further answers or insight. Thanks!

What school do you go to right now? Every internship or volunteering opportunity I found related to SLP was through my advisor, she regularly sends out emails about opportunities to the students in the department. This led me to the opportunities that got me more experience to start off and then after that I could find them on my own just be emailing around and mentioning my previous experience. A lot of NSSLHA programs also have connections to opportunities like these. Good luck! Message me if you want to know more, always happy to help!

Observation Hours for Grad Application

Thank you all so much for the information! I feel like it couldn't hurt my chances to submit them when the time comes, but I won't be bummed if they don't count towards anything because I was going to do the observations regardless. And the experiences like many of you mentioned could be great for a letter of intent. At least I won't be short hours! -

I agree, that board does do a great job of explaining what to do. In one of my classes at CU, we observed SLPs as part of the class and had a spreadsheet given to us to submit directly to grad schools. I attached it here if you want to take a peek, obviously there is a header, but that could be easily changed if you wanted to use it. ASHA SLP Observation Hours Log (2).doc -
Hi everyone! I had a quick opinion question for you all. Grad school apps ask for 25 observation hours, which I got during a class at CU. However, I'm also going to a therapy abroad trip in August where I will get 25 more hours and I've been volunteering with a speech therapist over the summer that could count as more hours. Do you think it's worth it to submit all the extra hours even though I don't need them when the time comes? It sounds silly, but it almost feels weird to not do it. I'm trying to get all the boosters I can get for my applications to help with any chances of getting into schools. I don't even know if it would make a difference/matter at all to the people looking at my application. Let me know what you think, all thoughts welcome!

Thank you! Yes those schools are all on my list at the moment, but they are really competitive! So I'm nervous I won't get in, which is why I'm applying to so many.

Yes great idea! I also forgot to mention that I am going on a therapy abroad trip this summer and in addition to the internships and volunteering I was a teaching assistant this past year, but yes I am definitely considering all of the options you mentioned. Sorry, I just keep thinking of things. Thank you!

Hi there! I graduated undergrad from CU Boulder a little over a week ago, woo! I'm taking a gap year to relax a little and gain a little more experience because I graduated in three years, as well as be able to be with my family a little more. I have my list of schools I want to apply to and had already done most of the research on them, but I'm terrified I won't get in anywhere. I'm from California, so I'm currently looking at schools in California, Colorado, and Washington (but am open to others!). I am taking the GRE this summer/fall and have volunteered and done internships throughout my time at CU, but my GPA is only at a 3.4 because my first year wasn't my strongest. So I'm scared that it'll be too low. I am fluent in Spanish and am learning ASL more in my gap year. Does anyone know if the admissions teams take into consideration that I did it in three years? Also any advice of things to do during my gap year to raise my chances? Any advice helps! Also sorry if this is too long.
