No I haven't heard back yet- a little sad but I just wanted to be wanted if that makes sense. Even if I was accepted I would still choose CSULB over UCLA due to a number of small reasons. But it would have been an honor to get recognized! How about you? Are there any other schools you are waiting on?

I spoke to Tiffany and she said there are more admissions that will come to an end in about 2 weeks! I’m not too worried since I am committed to CSULB, but it would be nice to get accepted regardless! I believe in you, stay strong!

Hello everyone I am new to the chat! I was accepted to CSULB 2/2 and submitted my application 11/18. I believe it was sent to the department mid December. This was my third time applying to CSULB, once out of high school, once to transfer, but I was finally accepted for their MSW! Good luck to everyone waiting for responses! I am sending you all positive thoughts.

Thats amazing! Do you mind sharing your stats? I am also waiting on UCLA! So far I have been accepted to CSULB.

Hi there! I am a senior Psyc student graduating CSUF this Spring. I applied to CSUF, CSULB, and UCLA. I applied to the mental health concentration. My Jr/Sr GPA is a 3.75 and my overall is a 3.36. I have experience in ABA for a total of 4 years, I was a youth mentor with the mental health association for 6 months, I was a psychology peer mentor at CSUF for one semester (doing another semester right now) and I recently joined a new volunteer position this last month with an organization called MECCA where I am helping develop a curriculum for mental health awareness and stigma reduction. I am a little anxious if I will make it into a program but I am trying to stay positive! Sending you all positivity for your admissions status as well, we got this!

Hi there! I am a senior Psychology student at Cal State Fullerton planning to apply to MSW programs this fall. I plan on applying to CSUF, CSULB, CSUSM, and UCLA. UCLA would be the dream- but all programs have caught my attention! My long term goals are to become a LCSW. Here are my stats: 3.25 Overall GPA, 3.75 last 60 units I've provided ABA therapy for kids with Autism and other disabilities for 3 years. I am also a Parent Consult, so teaching the parents ABA therapy for 1.5 years. I work with the kiddos and take data on their behaviors, cognitive skills, social skills, communicational skills, etc. I am a Youth Mentor with the Mental Health Association of OC. I help my client with goals provided by her therapist and write reports on her progress. Goals include self-esteem, assertion, communication, personal growth, etc. 6 months experience Peer Mentor for the psychology department here at CSUF. I have office hours and help students with course material, hold study skills workshops, help with job searching/resume building. I am also the co-editor of the psychology newsletter. I am also a member of 2 psychology related clubs. I've been working hard on my personal statements trying to illustrate all my skills and experiences. Planning to submit my applications mid-November. I am hoping for the best, and sending you all positive vibes as we go through this process together!!

Fall 2019 MSW stats? (Experience, GPA, anxiety, etc.)
AMiscione replied to cymsw1163's topic in Social Workers Forum
I am looking into MSW as well. My goal is an LCSW, for I have a passion for mental health. I am currently a senior psychology student at CSUF. I am planning to apply to CSUF, CSULB, CSUSM, and UCLA. UCLA would be the dream, but I lack the confidence that I am qualified enough/ will succeed in their program. Here are my stats: 3.25 overall GPA, 3.80 Major GPA, 3.85 last 60 units (as the applications ask for). I have been doing ABA therapy for children with autism and other developmental disabilities for 3 years now. Within that, I was promoted to parent consult, where I teach the parents ABA therapy. I have been a parent consult for 1.5 years. I run programs with my clients and take data on their progression towards goals. I work in them with behavioral, communicational, cognitive skills. I am a volunteer Youth Mentor for the Mental Health Association of Orange County. I help my client with existing mental health needs by working on her goals as provided by her therapist. I additionally write monthly reports about her meeting her goals. Goals include self-esteem, assertion, self-sufficiency, independent living, etc.. I am a peer mentor for the psychology department at CSUF. I hold office hours for students, hold study skills workshops, help with academic questions, APA formatting, job searching, resume building, etc. I am also the co-editor of the psychology newsletter. Other than that, I am a member of 2 psychology clubs. Also, I have taken a large number of sociology courses that I feel would nicely suit social work for they illustrated concepts about social injustice/ inequality. For example, sociology of: gender, sex and society, social inequality, drugs, ethnic/minority relations, interaction, etc... I tend to doubt myself and my abilities to get into graduate school for social work- but I am hoping this can be a positive and uplifting environment for all of us when it comes to submitting our applications! I hope to hear from you guys, thank you! -
I totally understand your dilemma too! I am a psychology student applying for MSW programs this fall. I was going in-between the MFT and MSW for the same reasons. I love psychology and want to keep learning of these psychological concepts that the MFT program offers. The MSW has some psychological classes, but the majority is about social work policy. But, my father is a LCSW and has had a lot of success and versatility in his degree, which made me lean more towards the MSW side. Plus, I care about social justice, and figured it would be good to go in the social work direction because of that.
