Woke up to four emails (I rarely get email now that I'm out of school), thought I'd finally gotten some news...and they were all confirmations that I'd successfully unsubscribed from junk email I keep getting and losing my mind over. Cool, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool. -

I devoured that season last week! And I had an amazing conversation about extra uterine gestation with someone at a party last week that jolted my academic lit brain back into action. I’ve been looking at UPenn’s call for papers site and I think I’m going to get back to work to distract/nourish myself. -

You inspired me, I just made a milkshake and it did make me feel better -
Thank you for the encouragement This is my year off as I didn't get into a PhD last year and turned down a MA program because it wasn't the offer I really needed. And it's been a miserable year so far, haha. But I'm also a few weeks away from my 31st, which I think is compounding the why didn't I do this sooner what is going to become of me what even is life panic. But you're completely right, I really don't know where the heck I stand until the end of next month, at the earliest. Thanks for the cheering up, I do appreciate it! And congrats again on your good news!

First off, I want to say I'm truly stoked for everyone who got in today. It's fun to see dreams coming true! However, the results board adds another two implied rejections to my tally today and it hurts. Definitely shed a few tears. Watched some kitten videos. Shed a few more tears. I really hope the coming weeks disprove this hunch I have that this year is going to be a shut out.

Yep, I am right there with you. Also I haven't had the stamina to actually do the fellowship applications. I don't have the emotional or mental energy to invest in anything else right now. -

Much better than my "work everyday so you can't think about anything else" plan which isn't very effective and definitely not any fun. -

Disclaimer: do not freak out! I was just scrolling through all my app portals and opened UCSB’s to see “accepted” ...had minor stroke ...immediately thereafter noticed the accepted was referring to my app fee waiver, my app status is still very much submitted. Lol why am I like this? Reading is supposed to be my thing, right? -

Absolutely. I should hear from four, if they follow past timelines. I think these next few weeks are going to be real intense, and I’m so ready for it. -
Go back to Germany for a month, move to Chicago, get a job, reapply. Or stay in bed moaning Tina Belcher style until the end of time. One if those.

A 5 Mar 2015 Nice letter, but overall pretty disheartening. GPA is MA, excellent recs, years of teaching experience, publications, national conferences. Maybe it's because I haven't been knighted yet, and my martyrdom is still up in the air. -
Oh dear god I needed this thread. so far haven’t heard back from Oregon state (not sure that acceptance is legit though since the date is weird...holding out hope), Ohio, u Chicago, or Madison. Looks like Madison already notified one or two for their waitlist so I’m assuming that’s a rejection, UChicago was always kind of an assumed rejection, but Ohio waitlisted me last cycle on 1/29 so I guess that may happen again, who knows. I’m trying not to freak out, and I have a lot more schools posting results next month, but I’m a worse case scenario kinda gal, so this thread is just my style. Good luck everyone!
