I know! If I didn't have this outlet to talk about it I would go insane since no one else seems to (outwardly) care.

I had one last year. I was asked to elaborate on my research experiences and to speak specifically about research questions I would like to answer. They also talked about themselves as a researcher/mentor to determine if we sounded like a good match. And ended with the usual "Any questions I can answer for you about myself, the program, or <insert city>?"

Just got my first "Application in Review" email and almost started crying thinking I was rejected that fast! ?
On a happier note, best of luck to everyone as invites start rolling in!!

How are clinical programs with 12/1 deadlines already extending Skype interviews. I'm about to fall off my rocker. My applications haven't even gone "under review" except for Rice.. Whose deadline isn't even until 12/15 ?‍♀️

Skype interview with University of Miami, received an email from POI.

What do skype interviews mean? Is this in place of in-person, or is this a preliminary interview to determine whether or not they would like to meet in person?

I was minding my own business working on my laptop when an e-mail about an application status update came up, and I had a mini heart attack thinking the program rejected me so quickly... Turns out the "update" was that my application is now under review. I think I'm going to log off my e-mail ?

for sure! plus it's cheaper for them too (as they usually fund part of your flight). Sure it will make you look good if you can come, but nobody will hold it against you if you can't come I'd say - especially if you're abroad (i.e., Korea - East Coast is FARRRRR).

Yes, I wouldn't make any inferences based in the GPA and GRE scores. If you notice the black bars (standard errors) overlap on all of them. Good catch. What should make everyone feel better is the fact that perfect scores aren't as common in this data.

What is this........... thing? lol. Did you collect this on your own? I'm a little data nerd and love stuff like this. Obviously lots of confounds with self-report data, but still pretty neat to see an aggregate first-look draft at the massive amount of information applicants report on that forum!

    Here you all are:
    Data on decisions
This was a project I did last year. It doesn't include results as of this year but the sample is quite high (~35000). Keep in mind it's based on the results survey, so there may be over or under reporting (i.e., people may be more likely to report interviews than waitlists, or acceptances more than rejections) and some other biases.
