  1. Do not give up on your dream of being an SLP! I was in the same situation and currently still am because I am applying to graduate programs with a 2.83 GPA. My first two years I was a engineering major and decided that it was not what I wanted to do. I switched majors and fell in love with the major. I didn't think about graduate school until it was actually my senior year then I looked at the odds and freaked. Last year I was applying with a 2.75 gpa and I applied to around 12-15 schools and I spent soooo much money. I was waitlisted at 2 or 3 schools actually which is better than I thought. I have a CSD gpa of 3.5 and my now new gpa is 2.83 because I retook two csd classes I received C's in. However, I made sure that I did not only have good grades they look at your experience and everything you've done on campus. I recommend join NSSHLA, National Stuttering Association, and getting involved in research, and shadowing a local slp or volunterring at the clinic. Try to stand out and no do the norm because I think me being trilingual will help me in the end. Good Luck love! We can sometimes be our biggest critics.
  2. It depends on how technological advanced the school is. Some schools get scores sent electronically which takes like 24-48 hours and then some school still get the scores sent by mail. I would try to send my scores at least a month and a half out from the due date or earlier. Last year during application season that was a big error I made but not making that same mistake this year lol. Good luck!
  3. I am not going to mention that I am a second time applicant. I just want to start off fresh this year but I am applying to a program I applied to last year but not telling them lol
  4. Congratulations!! This is my second round of apps and I am more confident then I was last year but still nervous!!
  5. Hi!! I am from Mississippi. I am graduated in May 2018 from the University of Mississippi. I am applying to 10 school: University of the Pacific Stockton, The College of Saint Rose, Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Tennessee State University, Florida State University, Southeastern Louisiana University, George Washington University, Western Kentucky University, Old Dominion University, and University of Arkansas. I think my biggest concern currently is that I do not have a competitive overall gpa because my major the first two and half years of undergrad was engineering and then I switched to SLP. Right now its at a 2.83 which I worked really hard to get but my major gpa is a 3.43 which is super competitive. My gre score is pretty average but aside from the numbers I have a ton of experience with clinical hours, undergraduate clinic hours and shadowing experience. Right now in my gap year I wanted to get some more experience but my job hours conflict with the local SLP's office hours. I am pretty confident this year and just pray that I get in somewhere because last year was a complete shit show. Totally happy I found this thread because I was freaking out have no one to really talk to because my mom is social worker and I am first generation graduate student. I hope we all get in somewhere and good luck.
