Is it appropriate to let the program know this and ask if I might schedule an alternate time to visit?
Absolutely. Explain that you are not able to make it but are super interested. I have seen many posts where people got alternative dates to visit. It wouldn't be out of the norm at all!

@LOiseauRouge Wow!!! It looks like we have a lot of overlap in our interests! I haven't spent too much time with Animal Studies yet, more so landscape/environment, but would really like to do so in my future studies. I look forward to reading "The Accommodated Animal" now that I have a little more breathing room with applications finished. Any good essay recommendations for the Japanese writings you were talking about? I am afraid most of the texts that I have read have been firmly Western.

Just wanted to start a thread to see what other E.M./Med. people were around this year and what y'all were interested in working on in grad school. What is peaking your interest right now? What books are you reading or want to read once school starts up?

@literalturtle Thank you both for the advice. I was probably just overthinking, and I agree that at this stage it wouldn't really have any negative effect. I'll email them Monday!

Hey all. I just got my first acceptance to a wonderful program. I would love to share with my LOR writers. However, I am also applying to my undergraduate (the school these LOR's teach at) and I don't want that to have any impact on my admissions process there. Do you think I should just wait until all of my acceptances come out?

So, I am applying to my undergraduate institution for a MA program. I was wondering if it would be weird of me to tell them I got my first acceptance (to another school) when I am still under review at their school. Thoughts? I want to share the good news but don't want to complicate my admissions process too much.

I had the same thought re not getting an interview not necessarily equaling a rejection, but I want to steel myself against hoping along those lines because it seems a recipe for heartbreak.
Remember, it isn't a rejection until it's a rejection!!!!! Y'all got this!

Tell me everything you know about this...did you get an email or you got to check the system?
Sorry, I did not apply to Tennessee. I was just congratulating whoever had posted on the board. I believe it was @arbie!

FYI For Ohio State applicants: Someone just posted on the results page that they looking in their portal and it had an acceptance even though they hadn't received an email yet. Might be worth checking your portal if you applied there!

It makes me think of this article "I Stand Here Limpiando: Maternal Knowledge, Chicana Subjectivity, and Mother-Daughter Bonding" by Christina Herrera. It's all about recognizing the communicative, inter-generational power of women's labor. Super cool stuff
I'll add that to me reading list! Sounds wonderful!

Anyone been watching Tidying Up on Netflix? \
YES! I am loving the positivity in the series and the articles about gender dynamics / the invisibility of women's labor

Both of the programs I have been accepted to called while I was at work. I wasn't able to answer at the moment, but seeing calls/voicemails from the cities where these schools are was amazing! I called back a few hours later in both cases. I have been trying not to open my emails at work. I am afraid that bad news might sour the rest of my day.
