  1. the CD area surprisingly only received 68 applications last year!
  2. 1000 applications?! That's actually insane. This is literally no different from a lottery at this point LOL. Does that number refer to clinical psych or all graduate psych programs?
  3. Perhaps this is an unpopular opinion, but I've been noticing people are very hesitant to share their POIs they've received interview invites from. This is my third year applying and in the past, everyone has always been very open and transparent about this. I find it a little disheartening as this forum is meant to provide some reassurance and clarity throughout this very difficult process. In addition, I'm not quite sure how an anonymous user sharing their POI's initials can jeopardize their success in the interview or admissions process. I know I can't control people's actions or force anything out of them, nor am I trying to, I just wanted to say that I personally find it more stressful knowing that interview invites are being sent out from a school I applied to but not being sure if it is from a POI that I applied to.
  4. Can the person who posted on the results page who received an email invite from UoGuelph please DM me?
  5. Could the person on the results page who received an interview invite from UTSC please DM me?
  6. I’m thinking this is probably dependent on the prof, but I’m a little worried about a prof I applied to work with who has an Honours Thesis student in their lab. Their bio on the lab website says they will be applying to clinical psychology programs this year- do you think it’s a given this prof will accept this student as opposed to other applicants? I’m feeling like I don’t have a fair shot.
  7. Does anyone know the admission stats for Laurier 2-Year Program (part-time, online)? I'm confident about my grades/experience, but I'm not sure if it's the best decision to do an online program. I'm also applying to UofT MSW.
  8. Also, has anyone gained insight into how much the # of applicants actually increased at specific schools in Canada?
  9. I totally would have done that, but for this particular school they said they didn't have the ability to remove my scores off file...
  10. Yes right?!? Thank you!! Glad you weighed in, this makes me feel more confident about my rather rash decision on the phone yesterday lol.
  11. I recently noticed online that a school I applied to last year says that my GRE scores are "on file" even though I didn't re-submit them this year. I know the school is accepting scores this year but it's not required (optional). I called the admissions office yesterday and they said to make sure that they don't look at my scores for this year's application, they suggested they leave a note on my application to say that I wish to not consider my scores. I've been overthinking this decision a ton- does this look bad? I feel like maybe they wouldn't have looked at them to begin with but now with the note it just draws attention... They told me another applicant did the same thing a day before I called. On the other hand, I guess it makes it clear that I don't want them to be considered when looking at my application since they DO have access to them. Thoughts? EDIT: It's also my top school
  12. I applied to the MA in Developmental Psychology and Education at OISE
  13. I've presented my Honours Thesis, an independent research project, as well as research that I helped out with in my lab.
  14. Wow, this is so impressive!! I honestly think you'd have a good shot at getting in this year. Any clinical experience? For me, I have: 1 pub (third author) 1 pub in prep (first author) Honours Thesis 4 presentations (oral & poster, all first author) Volunteered at 3 research labs in undergrad, worked full-time in one after undergrad Excellent letter of recs A lot of clinical experience/practicums at hospitals, crisis responder, volunteer work at schools, etc. BSc. from UofT, CGPA: 3.76, GPA L2 years: 4.0
  15. that's true i think it's a confluence of factors that determine whether someone gets admitted. all we can do is hope for the best!
  16. What are your thoughts about being accepted into a clinical psych program with only 1 pub? A lot of people who are accepted seem to have multiple so I'm worried 1 isn't enough.
  17. Is this at UofT experimental psych or OISE?
  18. PM me if you applied to McMaster if you want to chat about POI!
