  1. Hello! Hope you are well and keeping safe. I graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology back in 2015. My professional experience came afterwards since I volunteered at a local distress centre, worked at a group home, and then worked at a community resource centre. I worked for four years before being accepted at the UofT MSW program. For guidance, I definitely encourage people to start the application process early and take the time to think about your mission statement. Think about how your application will stand out amongst everyone else who is also applying that year. I believe that there was close to 700 people who applied during my time, but they only accepted 150. Imagine being a complete stranger reading your mission statement and not knowing anything about you. How can you make your mission statement strong and unique? Here are some questions to think about that can help with this. Do you have personal experience that can contribute to the social work field? Do you see any gaps that you want to see improvements on and if so, what are the solutions? Would you be able to contribute to UofT's faculty in a meaningful way (e.g., research)? These are important questions to consider during your writing process. Lastly, leave time for editing and have multiple read your mission statement. It's important to receive feedback during this time! I hope that is helpful! Feel free to ask me anything else if it comes up. Good luck with your applications!
  2. Hey everyone! Congratulations on everyone's acceptances thus far. For people who have been waitlisted, do not loose hope! There is still time to hear back. I am currently working part-time at my work and have a lot of time on my hands. If anyone wants feedback on their applications or want insight about it, feel free to message me! I was accepted at UofC, UofT and UofVic (but rejected at Carleton and York). I had a lot of feedback on my applications and I found this to be very useful in my success. Just want to pay it forward to to other people, if they want feedback as well!
  3. Hey there! Paying the deposit has been absolutely confusing, but I am pretty sure they want us to send it through traditional mail. I asked Angela about the deposit situation and this is what she said: "The deposit is due at the end of May; when you submit your payment please include the confirmation deposit form and submit it directly to Student Accounts, 215 Huron Street (address is on the form)." I am going to talk to my bank about this since I do not have cheques/money orders either - but I am sure we will be able to figure something out. I believe that different mailing companies (e.g., Canada Post, UPS) have secured ways to send cheques/money orders over. I am also willing to pay a little extra to ensure the deposit is sent over safely. I am going to do be doing this all today, so I will update the forum if I find out any valuable information about this process! However, will UofT be sending a physical package through mail as well? I thought they were sending their acceptances through e-mails this year - since a lot of the information can be found on our SGS account.
  4. Hey there! We have to pay our deposit by May 31st. Also, I live in Calgary currently. If you want any advice about where to live or anything like that, feel free to message me. I would be more than happy to help out.
  5. Just recieved my acceptance to UofT via e-mail and SGS! Congratulations to everyone who has been accepted so far. I will be leaving my placement in Calgary - so if anyone is waiting to get into the clinical program through that university, a seat just opened up!
  6. Congratulations!! Would you mind taking a screenshot or just letting us know where the admission documents can be specifically found on SGS? Thank you!
  7. My initials are S.Z. Hope that is helpful!
  8. Ahhh! Same!!! I am freaking out. I probably will not believe it until I get the official acceptance letter in my hands. Congrats!
  9. I definitely hear you on feeling anxious! I'm waiting to hear back from York as well. I feel like the Two-Year applicants will hear closer to the end of this month... Speaking of which, it has been going by so slowly!! Hurry up March.
  10. Did they give out their acceptances already for Advanced Standing and Two-Year this past week? I was assuming that the Two-Year program would hear a little later this month.
  11. Based on last year, I think applicants heard back from York around March 23rd. I am not sure if York would give you your acceptance earlier on the phone if you did call - since they inform students on specific dates in waves. However, York would be able to tell you on the phone when they would start calling applicants about their acceptances since this did happen last year too. What I would reccomend is asking if Ryerson would be able to extend the deadline for when you can accept - since you can explain the situation about you are hearing back from other universities. I am not sure if you have done this already. If they won't give you an extension, I would reccomend putting down the deposit just to secure your place in case until you hear back from York. It does suck that we have to do this (since I did this with another school), but it is better to be safe than sorry. I also know not everyone has the financial means to put down a security deposit, so I would just talk to Ryerson to see what they have to say. Hope that is helpful!
  12. Based on last year's thread, we may hear around March 27th? It's hard to say because I know it varies every year. I have also been super anxious on waiting to hear back.
  13. Congrats on everyone getting into their programs so far!! I had a quick question for the UofT 2 Year Program. I am still waiting to hear back. I was wondering how declaring your specialization works if you are accepted? If I get into UofT, I definitely would want to go into the Mental Health and Health stream. I am just wondering if students are able to get into their specialized streams without any issues or if you have to select a first, second, and third choice for different streams? Any insight into this process would be much appreciated!
  14. I was accepted into UofC's 2-Year MSW program and I am also in clinical too. Congratulations on your acceptance! ?I am also waiting to hear back from UofT.
  15. Same here along with everyone else! I know schools out east are really competitive, so I don't know what to expect. ? I will probably feel anxious until I hear from them.
