  1. Hi everyone! I'm looking for a nice messenger bag, preferably brown leather, to use for graduate school. I'm more interest in durability than affordability right now (although anything over $200 is tooooo much). Does anybody have any recommendations/bags they love/bags they hate? Thank you!
  2. Thank you! Hopefully it'll help the next round of apps, too!
  3. Ha it definitely remains to be seen how successful I'll be in that regard...I think the pubs might get me, too!
  4. After thirteen rejections (and 2 more IR) I just got into the only master's program I applied for and I'm pretty happy about it, because it's a 9 mo. program on Irish writing, which is my focus! Trinity College Dublin, here I come??!

    Davis, CA

Hi! I don't go to Davis, but I've spent A LOT of time there. I would recommend definitely getting a bike and learning how to ride it (Davis is super flat so you shouldn't be in too much trouble) and considering beginning to learn how to drive, if only because it will be fun to be able to go into Sac/go to the Bay Area on weekends if you want. I live in Berkeley right now and I find the change of pace in Davis refreshing and pleasant and honestly prefer going out in Davis for drinks/night-life. It's a pretty fun place, and it's close enough to Sac and the Bay (and Tahoe) that there's plenty to do if you do get bored in Davis. It's also pretty diverse! Congrats!

Hi! I go to UC Berkeley and my fiance is at Davis so I'm really familiar with the Davis-Berkeley situation. I would definitely recommend Sac if it isn't overly expensive, because Amtrak can be pretty pricey and the combo of Bart to Amtrak + Amtrak to Davis would definitely be a hassle. If you're still set on flying into the Bay, I would recommend checking out the Oakland airport, it's a much easier destination (in my opinion) if you're getting to the East Bay, which you would be to get on the Amtrak to Davis.
  7. Hi everyone! I posted this on the acceptances board but this might be a better place for it. I'm looking (preemtively) at a shut-out application season and I'm trying to gauge what happened/what I can do differently next year! I'm not sure if I just got unlucky with a lot of people applying with the same general interests as me: does anyone else do 20th/21st century Irish literature? Thanks and congratulations/good luck to everyone!
  8. Yeah, I actually go there rn for undergrad and I asked the grad. coordinator the other day and he said the committee is 'still making decisions' but with the number of people accepted, I doubt that that actually means anything. They don't usually have a big (if any) waitlist though so I wonder if part of it is an invisible waitlist?
  9. Why haven't NYU and Berkeley sent out their rejections yet? This is getting ridiculous honestly... Also, how are we feeling about Yale? Is that an implied rejection?
  10. Congrats to all admits...looking at a shutout round (yayyyy....). Trying to figure out what went wrong/what I can do differently next year, and figuring out if it's a cohort thing or something else. Does anyone do 20th century Irish literature?
  11. When do you think we should call it? Did he say anything to suggest that they're calling today only/tomorrow as well?
  12. Hi, Penn folks! Would you mind telling us what your fields of interest are? Congrats!
