Update: after emailing Harvard my portal almost instantly got an update, lol. Generic rejection. C'est la vie.

I know that this is a huge topic floating around GradCafe in both applications and actual students, so, let's discuss it in depth here. For prospective students, how has mental illness affected your studies, outlook, and preparation (or feeling the lack thereof) for grad school? For current students, how have you coped with your depression? Medication? Mental toughness? Is it possible to fight it long enough without prescriptions to make it through a Ph.D. program? As competitive as grad school can be, ultimately we're all in this together.

The anxiety is a small part of the larger transitional period into grad school... Not knowing where we're going to be in six months, not knowing about living situations, etc. Just knowing anything would be nice? Pretty please?

Their stats on the website show anywhere from 10-20 acceptance over the last five years... Only seen a few on here, but I'm not willing to bet that this forum is totally representative of all who have been accepted or rejected...

Holy heck, man. It's unbelievable. The waiting is bad enough without the added anxiety of seeing others accepted and rejected.

*sigh* Still holding on to something. A TON of rejections were posted back between February 14-15th; the results forum was totally filled with them. Glad I wasn't included in that mass rejection, haha.

4 applied, 1 accepted, 1 rejected, 2 radio silence. How many have heard back from Harvard in American History Ph.D.? Duke? Not sure whether to assume so much based on posts here, but it doesn't seem like a ton have been accepted... On the bright side, haven't been rejected yet. So there's that.
