I have learned from my POI at Cornell that they can only admit 2 CP people from the pool of over 200 CP applications. That's basically less than 1 percent! This cycle is BRUTAL. I think there's one or two people on this thread who have already claimed the CP acceptances and/or waitlisted. These guys are basically Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark ?.
By the way, my POI is not on the adcom, so he had no idea about when the official results would be sent to us, nor can he explicitly tell if I have been rejected ?.

I’m going to agree with this advise, talk to faculty during your visit days. Besides the honest advice they provide, it’s a great way to hear the juicy sub-field gossip that only a professor would know, things like which professors are leaving, which ones hate new students, and which programs are misleading with their information.
Obviously take all the gossip with a grain of salt, but it is hella fun to hear.

One could think that 2021 there would be an automated system for sending rejections. Say an application costs $100 on average. Is that an insufficient amount to have a system that manages rejections in an efficient way? When you have 500 applicants, wouldn't be in the best interest of the graduate school to put in place such system? I cannot imagine the amount of inefficient time wasted on sending rejections, if time is really the reason for the delay.
I feel I am on a little rant here. Maybe is my millennialism... I guess I just want the process to be more transparent. At this point I don't think departments are really revealing what happens on the admissions process. It feels such a black box. But does it really needs to be this way? Are departments scared people will try to 'game' the process?
I feel that there are huge asimetries of information that ultimate give an advantage to graduates of elite schools that can gain access to this 'hidden knowledge' just by talking with their professors.

Just received an admission via email from University of Florida (CP). Given my other acceptances, I will be declining the offer, but of course grateful to have options.

Honestly, I’m just waiting for a couple more decisions so that this can be officially over (I know I won’t choose any EU option over the US).  Depending on how the rest of US decisions go, I already know where I’d like to confirm my spot. So it’s really frustrating just waiting and waiting, and I’m sure a lot of you feel this way. I just want to see the end in sight.

For people who aren't proficient in LaTeX, I learned how to make my CV using LaTeX and that helped me out a lot.
    - LaTeX CV Tutorial (Overleaf has a great amount of tutorials for learning LaTeX. I'm not a fan of using LaTex on their website though but that's a personal preference.)
For the departments that I've talked to it appears that R is the main statistical software used now. Especially for younger professors. There are some people using Python and other software languages but those are more niche.
For R here's some resources for people who want to learn certain skills:
    - Blogdown (This is R adajcent, but if you want to create a website to show off projects you worked on this is fantastic.)
    - TidyTuesday (Data Visualization. They put out datasets and it gives you opportunities to try and visualize the data in fun ways.)
    - swirl (Basic R tutorials within R. It's a great way to start learning the program.)
    - R for Data Science (Great supplement to learn R. Focuses on a package group called "tidyverse" and skills in that are very helpful.)
There's also a number of good books about R that are more focused on social sciences. Some of those include:
    - Quantitative Social Science - Kosuke Imai
    - R for Political Science: A Practical Guide - Francisco Urdinez, Andres Cruz
    - Political Analysis Using R (Use R!) - James E. Monogan III
I think a final note on learning R is find a niche! Think of R as the Mariana Trench. R is DEEP. And there are a crazy amount of parts within R you can explore. But pick one thing and learn it very well. Then branch out to other parts of R. Having a strong foundation in one part of R can be helpful in learning adjacent things.
@timeseries If you have anything to add about learning R/LaTeX that I am missing please add it.

This year the OSU updated the decisions (for admits I believe) on the portal and have not sent an email yet.

And as far as the Gradcafe results show, it was the case last year, too.
