My two cents, and I am also leaning toward Rutgers, is that having an advisor in mind that you would really want to work with is a big selling point. Good luck!

Maybe you could get a sense of how likely it is to get that funding you have to apply for. If funding is the same for years one and two, keep in mind things might change by the time you get to year three. You also might put yourself in position to win funding. knowing the Princeton area relatively well, i can tell you it’s not cheap either. which program has faculty you would be most excited to work with? which one has an atmosphere in which you see yourself being most comfortable?

congrats, this is a good choice to have to make! I would go with your "heart" over your "head"; question: where did you see about the funding for research and language and travel?

I don’t think it red flags you. Try not to overdo it. One short polite email should be fine.

I told waitlist A that I was in at waitlist B. I am still waiting on one app which I can’t tell if I am on a waitlist or just not rejected yet. I think waitlist A is out of the running assuming I get complete details from waitlist B and they are solid. However if the third option becomes a possibility that would upend the whole calculus! Only a little while longer to wait. Wishing everyone on here patience and good luck!

GW is a top program and I am happy to answer any questions about it. Also Yale is even better.

en effet @FrenchJourn et pas de quoi @MingCharlene. As for my own status, hard to tell from the email but it would appear I am on waitlist.

Same here. I emailed the DGS and didn’t hear back. Also wound up emailing the coordinator. So hard waiting for this one after everyone else is pretty much done!

I only heard from POI at IFS to say it would be a couple weeks before they made decisions. What about you, did you apply to IFS? Or to the French department? Has anyone been accepted or interviewed who applied to IFS/french as opposed to IFS/history or anthropology? Thanks!

Thanks for starting this thread! I applied to IFS (NYU) French, Columbia comp lit, CUNY comp lit, Penn French, Princeton French and Rutgers French. I’ve been rejected from Penn, waitlisted at Rutgers and interviewed at CUNY. My primary interests are 20th century and contemporary, trauma and environmental. Good luck to all!
