  1. I am still attending my master's program, however, because of COVID I lost my job in March and was unable to attend my first choice school & program. I am attending my second choice school & program instead because they offered me a research assistantship and full tuition (my top choice offered me full tuition, but no assistantship and I would have to move across the country). Has anyone else experienced the same? This pandemic has set back my career plans by at least 3 years... I'm having a really difficult time coping with this.
  2. Waitlisted!!! I was expecting an outright rejection so this was a pleasant surprise. Congratulations to those who got in!
  3. seriously, I've been thinking this the entire time I've been following this thread ?
  4. It's still only the 18th EST still-- If the admissions decisions are coming on the 19th, they won't for at least another 12 hours.
  5. I am much less "seriously staying put" than "seriously considering waiting to pursue my MPP because I have more financially beneficial engineering master's offers since my current job is reliant on the wellbeing of the economy that just crashed because of coronavirus"
  6. I was going to their admitted student day, but I'm super afraid they're going to cancel it
  7. I submitted my application on January 13 and I applied to their MPP program.
  8. Anyone else hear back from U-M Ford??? Got my acceptance earlier today!!! Screaming!!!
  9. Where do we check the status of our application? The same HKS application portal?
  10. Anyone else going to the Admitted Student Day event on March 26th and 27th?
  11. Not sure about how anyone else is figuring this out. I'm trying to make a huge career change AND I'm $95k in debt from my undergrad, so my situation is probably a lot different than everyone else's. I was planning on going to whichever school offered me the most $$$, and if it was engineering or public policy that's how I would move forward in my career... I got accepted to Georgetown MPP, no funding so I can't/won't go there. Same with Ohio State engineering. I'm waiting to hear back from Harvard MPP, University of Michigan MPP and engineering, all of which I am expecting rejections. My choices are then down to Michigan State for engineering and the University of Southern California MPP. I got full tuition + health insurance + a stipend at MSU, so obviously it is the most fiscally sound choice, but honestly, I hate engineering and I can't do this for the rest of my life. I got into USC on full merit scholarship, but I am really concerned about the cost of living + moving to LA... I'm 95% sure I'll be going there and NOT MSU. I guess I would go to HKS if I got a full tuition scholarship, but to be quite honest, I don't think I would be a good fit there and I am nothing like the typical student they admit! If I get an admit it will be a pleasant surprise, but I am fully expecting a rejection.
  12. USC Price was my top choice and I was offered a dean's merit scholarship that covers 100% of my tuition, so it looks like I'm probably going there. The only downside of going to USC is that I'd have to move across the country (I have lived in the midwestern US for my entire life) and I am really concerned about the cost of living in LA... Are the GradCafe forums a good place to look for potential roommates?
  13. I also got my funding offer via the packet they mailed us, so it sounds like you did not. You should email them to confirm though.
  14. I wish they would just send out the rejections already! I know I won't get in but I can't relax until they tell me so! I already have a full ride at USC Price so I don't even need to worry about this one.
  15. I was thinking the same, it seems strange
