Well, that’s a wrap then. In with no aid is as good as a rejection. Hope my spot can go to someone on the waitlist.

Yeah, Ms. Saam from the HNC admissions office implied as much... but then in that case I'd be concerned that maybe 1 year isn't enough time to do a lot of networking in DC on top of a full time MA program, vs. having two years to find a job with the Georgetown one and the second year being part-time. Also, judging from past posts on this forum, it sounds like the SAIS career office is a little more hands-off than the Walsh one, so students have to hustle more on their own for internships. (It's probably easier at SAIS given proximity to think tank row, but still.)
In any case, I just sent my financial aid reconsideration form, so we'll see what happens.

I wouldn't necessarily have this change your thinking. Schools have sent stuff like this in the past. Just a big hedge.

Princeton WWS released yesterday and today, but Harvard HKS is pushed back to next week. Still hopeful for today based on the email about current students contacting us.

A friend currently at SIPA sent me this email. Looks like decisions are still on track to come out before Monday!

Spoke to the administrator about financial aid today. She said there’s a financial aid reconsideration request form that will be released soon.
She also commended me for asking and said that many people don’t take the time to do so. Nothing is guaranteed, of course, but it seems they will try to match my other offer if I fill out the request and funding allows.

Yes, absolutely. The sign that decisions are about to be released is usually when the checklist disappears. In my experience with other schools, the email gets sent within a couple hours after the portal is updated. The fastest way to know is to check the portal (or here because people will definitely say something).

I imagine all the SIPA decisions will be released at the same time. The thread for Harvard Kennedy School (HKS) has data that shows SIPA usually releases before Princeton WWS and HKS, which would mean today or tomorrow. Columbia is preparing to begin online classes though, so it's difficult to know if admissions decisions will be affected.

I’m not sure. I have a previously scheduled call with an administrator next week. I’ll just bring it up. All else equal, SAIS is my top choice. Really don’t want to have to decline because of funding.

That's why I went for the Tsinghua program instead. I love the HNC, but my Mandarin definitely isn't good enough to take technical classes not taught in English. If you feel confident in your ability, don't let that that condition stop you!

I just got my scholarship e-mail too. Got 10k for HNC, 20k for the first year in DC, and 10k for the final semester in DC. Not bad at all... that's really exciting, I might be able to not have crushing debt for the rest of my career haha. Need to make some calculations but looks like I'll probably end up going to SAIS instead of Georgetown probably unless they give me a fellowship over there.

I also considered the Tsinghua dual degree program in the beginning but since the curriculum at HNC is in Chinese and at Tsinghua it's in English, I chose the Certificate program instead.

BTW just received the scholarship/funding information! Check your email inboxes and see if you've got anything.

I had a conditional offer in December because SAIS said I hadn't completed the economics prerequisite. I called and asked them to take a closer look at my transcript, and they quickly removed the conditions. If you think the conditions are wrong, you should reach out.
