Yep - two of my emails have gone unanswered for up to 5 days now. I was worried that since I used a gmail address it might have been thrown in spam boxes, but then ONE got answered. Typically how long is it taking for any of you to get responses to email inquiries?

I just submitted my last app - Oxford! I think I may have broke out in a cold sweat when I clicked the button, but it's subsiding. I'm still waiting to hear from two programs that they received all my supporting documentation and references. Other than that - I'm back to reading for comp exams...Just 14 days away

Congrats on the interview, kyjin! Unfortunately I don't have any pertinent advice for visits. Have only had phone interviews in the past. So you will be coming out to the US for the interview? That's great!

I'd say before the historical context. I would try to mention it within/after the intro as Sio mentions. P.S. I use Anderson's Imagined Communities in my work as well :-) I do a lot with nationalism.

If the schools don't ask for one I wouldn't worry about it. Some POIs ask to see it informally to get an idea of your experience and background. But why include something in your application that is not required? Especially if all the relevant information is in your SOP already.

I would put one line in addressing it - but you don't have to be specific. Just say you had to take one semester off due to health issues, or to resolve a medical issue.

I have no idea if this is a good sign or not, but I had a POI from a UK school I applied to view my profile as well. Is LinkedIn the first thing that comes up when you Google your name? Mine is. So I think they just Googled my name and went from there. I would take it as good news since they are interested enough to check you out.

I use Kayak.com often. They have great deals.
