Hey all! Congrats to everyone who received acceptances and waitlist too! I got waitlisted for Western, Laurier and U of T after hearing back from five MSW schools. What a wild and anxiety ridden ride!  I am still holding out faith to get off waitlist for at least one of the schools ?

WOW this was super insightful and well-written. I've heard this so many times and it's so true! You pretty much need to have somewhat of a relationship in order to get into clinical psych- even current clinical psychologists have told me this. It really is rigged and not objective at all. It's really upsetting for aspiring psychologists but also for other fields (e.g., social work) that will inevitably become more competitive to get into because I know a lot of people who can't get into clinical psych (like me) will flock to social work, driving up the # of applications. I have reached out to profs before in clinical psych asking to work in their lab but nothing ever followed through. I'm at peace knowing I have done everything I can and I know social work is very similar and I've been accepted!

Hi Everyone! Is anyone who is going to York for the Advanced Stream interested in having some sort of group either like Facebook, Insta or WhatsApp?!

this is my first time posting but just wanted to let you all know i've been reading this forum obsessively these past few weeks, thank you all for your insight and words of support! My last name begins with an 'F' and I was accepted to UofT's MSW 2 year program at 4:30pm yesterday. I am SO excited and looking forward to meeting some of you...hopefully in person! Congrats to everyone who has heard, and to those still waiting I just want to echo NEVER GIVE UP! It's been a long road for me and I can't believe the moment is here, but my journey certainly moulded me in every way I needed it to - trust that the universe always has your back in the long haul. Have a great weekend all ?

I just got accepted to UofT's 2 year program (initials A.K.) and I'm currently crying at work!!! I got the e-mail at 8:27 and I got SO anxious because all it says is "A decision as been made", so I called my best friend while SHAKING and I immediately started crying when I saw the acceptance!
I'm a long time lurker and I honestly wasn't too hopeful as I was applying for the first time but I am OVER THE MOON! I'm also waiting to hear back from York and Laurier. I'm sending you all good vibes and hoping you guys hear back with good news very soon ?!
I was also wondering if anyone knows how much the yearly tuition for MSW is at UofT? I'm not able to find anything recent that specifies

My last name is K and my acorn just changed to show that I am invited for degree registration status and that I have an admission deposit. What does this mean???!!! No email or change on Sgs

I got notified by email at 10 something this morning to check my decision but acorn and Sgs were also updated. Goodluck!

Hey everyone, I just came up with another idea which is to post anything related to U of T in this group, that way we won't bombard everyone who isn't interested in U of T with our comments since there's so many! lol 
And the amount of people that will follow this group could potentially indicate the amount of people that applied?
Hopefully this will work!

Aw I’m sorry to hear that. I know the waiting is agonizing but just know that there’s still hope that you’ll be accepted! It’s also important to remember that this is an especially difficult year for admissions and acceptances as COVID has caused a recession and people tend to go back to school when the economy gets hit. I know some schools also let students defer admissions and I’m not sure if that is impacting how many offers they’re sending out this year as well. I guess what I’m trying to say is that there are additional variables to consider this year when it comes to admission decisions that are out of our control. Sending you lots of light and positivity! Hoping you won’t have to wait too long to hear back  

An update for those awaiting York University advanced standing decisions. I received a letter via email saying I've been waitlisted for the fulltime (funded) program, but it also asked me if I'd be interested in their part-time (unfunded) option. 
I also decided I will not be attending UT. Hope that opens up a spot for someone in the gerontology stream wait list.
Two year applicants - hang in there! The waiting is almost done  

My dad and I made a friendly wager on when decisions will go out. He wagered that yesterday would be the day, so now I get a Starbucks coffee. What drink should I get folks? ?

Yes exactly! Thank you. I was accepted to the 2-year program at Carleton last month which is more closely aligned with my career aspirations in clinical social work so it’s all good. Best of luck to you as well!! 

At least you know now and can plan for the future. Hopefully you get in at another school or next year.

York rolls out their admissions in “waves” the first wave has a better chance of getting in. Once people make a decision in the first wave they move on to the second wave of people. This is what I was told my admissions when they called me. Stay as positive as you can, I know this is a stressful time but nobody need to be beating themselves up about it. If it’s not meant to be then people get a chance to gain work experience or volunteering done while applying for next year.
