This is exactly what I did. I was in SDS and did their 1 year BSW. I had applied to it as well as UofT 2 year MSW. I was rejected from UofT but did the BSW at Waterloo. I think it really helped as now I have been accepted to both Toronto and Laurier advanced standing (funny enough, I was waitlisted at Waterloo).
If you're currently in your BSW you can apply to advanced standing programs, you'll just need to submit your transcripts and maintain a certain average to hold your spot if you are accepted into a program.

So I started a count down till the 25th of March. According to previous threads U of T 2-year acceptances come out between the 25th and early April. Even though this is pure conjecture it’s still nice for me to feel like I have some idea of what is going on even if I don’t get in haha
That being said...9 days till the 25th!
Maybe this can add some fun to a stressful and uncertain time for others that are waiting too

Hi everyone, I’ve loved reading all of your comments and insights so far. I was wondering if anyone knows when York sends out acceptances, particularly for the advanced standing program? Does anyone know when they sent out acceptances last year?

I understand what you’re saying but it’s kinda on the school to decide where they place their funding. UofT has the oldest MSW program in Ontario so it’s fair for them to have more established community connections. Waterloo is a good school though. A much newer MSW program but I completed my BSW there and enjoyed it.

I totally get what you mean, the thought of reapplying is dreadful, it's such a gruelling process. I had applied multiple times to the two-year program without any success, so I decided to do a BSW first and try for the advanced standing. This was the best path in my opinion, it gave me a better foundation (I had been out of school for a couple of years so it was a good way to ease back into it), and it boosted my average by A LOT.
But it sounds like you already have a BSW, so my only suggestion would be to pad it with more relevant experience. I only have research / practicum experience so nothing too field-intensive, but my experience aligned with the stream I applied for.
Also, I just feel lucky. It really depends on what they're looking for that year, the experience of other candidates, and probably a lot of factors we don't know. Don't feel discouraged and I hope you get into other programs (if you applied)!

I also see an invited status on ACORN for the advanced standing program, but I am afraid to believe it until I get the official letter.
Congratulations everyone, I hope good news is coming your way ?

I was incessantly refreshing this forum and the admissions portal on Quest, and was just notified (on the website, no email yet; domestic student) that they are offering me admission!!!!
Congratulations to those who have been accepted and positive vibes for those still waiting. I am still waiting for decisions from several Toronto schools, so hang in there!

Congrats! That is amazing. I also applied to the 1-year but was waitlisted on the February 17th. I've been checking carleton central everyday but didn't comb through my email well enough, and so I only just found the email from Andrea saying that I was waitlisted yesterday. Kinda glad I missed 11 days of waitlist-induced teeth grinding!
For anyone who is curious, my application status is "preliminary review required" in Carleton 360 and "Review in progress by department" in Carleton Central. Based on what I've read, "Review in progress by Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs" usually means a decision is imminent. I know technically offer of admissions have to come through carleton central and that department decision emails aren't official.

Also waiting on York 1 year MSW and it's currently under consideration. Sending hugs to everyone.
