You do have a good background, actually, compensating the GPA! And the GPA isn't bad either. I have seen people with 3 - 3.2 GPA getting admits in good univs.- 814 replies

I am not Neuro person (tho my background research little bit aligns neuro) - but Biological/Biomed sci. Harvard BBS, Hopkins CMM, UNC BBSP, Vanderbilt IGP, BU PiBS. We have some overlaps. Not sure how they evaluate applications - first applied first? IDK. But Vandy website mentions that the committee meets every monday starting from Dec 1 and evaluate small batches of applications. -

The university to which you are applying will do additional verification if it is a personal email ID. As long as the professors have access to that email ID and can respond promptly when they are communicated by universities, you should be fine!
