Sorry to hear that. I had one which was just downright nasty. It went something like:
Fortunately, I wasn't that crazy about going there, so I thought it was quite funny.
I *think* (and hope for you) it is a good thing. My friend had his application transferred as well (in another discipline), and was accepted into the new program. Good luck!
My friend did get off the waitlist for an anthro program. I don't think she did anything, but she was on top of the waitlist.
Perhaps you can hunt out who's sitting on the offers, and think of creative ways of getting rid of them?
Okay, just kidding!
I'd like to blame myself, but all the schools who I emailed asking for suggestions on improving told me, "It's not you, it's us"
I'm actually not comforted. I'd much rather they told me why they didn't want me.
For those waiting on Harvard, while I am not in the know, I guess they sent out all their rejections, so you might be on a waitlist. Keep your fingers crossed!
Okay, there'll be a lot of passive nail-biting on my part then. It'll take a while for the mail to get to me, since I'm an international reason. It's incredibly expensive for me to call, unfortunately.
Many thanks once again for calling, and sharing the information. Best wishes for your application.
Wow, that's great! Thanks. Do you happen to know which fields they have notified for Harvard? Does your information just apply to Ancient field?
My little contribution: I know for sure that Cornell has notified at least one admit, on the same day that some other poster mentioned that decisions were done, i.e. 13 Feb.
I tend to read start a couple of books, and leave them lying around until I find the inclination to finish them. So right now, the books that I have started are:
1) Fernand Braudel's The Mediterranean
2) Mark Elvin's Retreat of the Elephants: An Environmental History of China
3) Christopher Lasch's The Culture of Narcissism
Yes, slow, slow board.
