I wouldn't give up hope yet. Have all of your schools started to notify? I didn't apply to any USC schools, so I'm unsure. -

The first time I applied straight out of undergrad I did the same thing. I was also completely naive about this whole process. I thought that because I had a 4.0, and my professors loved me I would get accepted to say... Cornell. Wrong. I received a few MA offers, chose a pretty good program, and now three years later I applied to schools that I thought would be a great fit. Alas, I'm still waiting to see if it paid off. -
Thanks for checking, Ekant. I always want to call and ask, but I'm afraid they'll tell me I've been rejected. Gah!

I've still heard nothing. NOTHING! Not a rejection, not an acceptance, not a wait list, not a "Hey! How ya doin'?" Nothing. Blah. -
Yeah, the teaching load is not the best, but the faculty, especially in my field, are great. If I get accepted (and that's a big IF), and I didn't have a better offer (which is likely) then I would be super stoked to go. I'd have a lot of teaching experience in the end...

Nope, from what I can tell on the results board, they don't typically notify admits until first week of March. I do notice, however, that they often send some rejections beforehand. They're my number one choice, so, if I only get accepted one place, I hope it's Rochester. The program is a great fit for my interests. Good luck! Keep us posted if you hear anything.

If you go to the Check your Status page, it's there. All you need is your login information that you used for the application.

I, too, applied to FSU, and I'm anxiously waiting. Out of curiosity, what does it say under your admission status? My has a little spiel about sending proper documents to the department, etc.

Same here Lolopixie. I just got back from shopping. For a brief moment, the Tory Burch shoes I just bought make this whole predicament okay. Of course, I also have to remember if I start a program next year, there will be no more drowning my sorrows with clothes and shoes. -
In general, BBC does phenomenal things. Another reason I wish I were British.

Haha! Thanks. DOOG !KCUL to you too. -
Peter Greenaway is crazy. The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, Her Lover-- I sat for two hours with my mouth hung open. The soundtrack is pretty good, though.

I know. Of course, it's been eerily quiet for me for several weeks now. I think a majority of my schools start to notify next week and the week after. I don't know if I want it to start yet. It's nice to see so many people having such tremendous success. Now I'm worried that I'll be the only one not to get accepted anywhere. Sheesh... just one that's all I'm asking. -
Any Chapel Hill-ers?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who does this at work. I minimize my gmail, and, when it shows I have mail, I maximize like a spaz only to find it's another Groupon offer. Damn. -
For serious?! I almost applied to BC. Kind of glad I didn't now. Congrats on the waitlist, though!

Yep, every Friday, but then I remember adcoms sometimes notify on Saturday. Blah.

This described every day of my life for the past two weeks perfectly.

Great...happy Friday... -
Antecedant-- I just finished my MA this past spring, and, yes, it was unfunded. I also chose to do an unfunded MA in one of the most expensive cities in the entire universe. Yes, I took out loans. About $50K worth. I only took federal loans, and I only took loans for my education. I refused to do so for living expenses. However, I know several people in my program who took loans for both; they are now well over $100K in debt. Bad. Life. Decision. My situation is a little different, however. I was also offered a job upon moving to NY... in finance . My first semester I worked part time, and then moved to full time. It allowed me to live comfortably and pay off my loans only 6 months after graduation. However, and this is a big however, I dread every day of work; I bitch a lot; generally, I loathe my existence. Anyway, I chose to enter the program I did; I had two other unfunded options-- one being in NY, as well and the other being in NC (much, much cheaper). But I wanted this experience, and I am glad I went to the school I did (even though I have yet to hear anything from any of my programs...ALAS). Basically, I would really consider the debt you will be in and whether you want that burden or not. Some people couldn't care less. It freaked me out, which is why I'm working this job now and worked during my MA. Give it some thought. Weigh the pros and cons. Ultimately, it's what feels best for you, but definitely consider the practicality of an unfunded MA. It's difficult for me to say if I would do it again. I have a tremendous experience, and, even knowing what I know now, I'm pretty sure I would make the same decision. Good luck with your decision and congrats on the acceptances!

I'm still operating under complete radio silence. Did I even apply to programs? Maybe it was all just an illusion. -

I'm sorry to hear that. That hurts. I'm afraid this will be my feedback as well. I have a feeling adcoms are thinking-- This applicant is good, but overall just kind of "meh." Good luck with the rest and hopefully something positive will arrive. -
I do agree. He's at the top of my list. Try as I might, I just can't do it.
