  1. Sorry to be that person who bumps their own thread - but are there really no applicants to the Ed.M program in HDP? Also, hope the decision process is getting easier for you, hello3angel!
  2. I think the choice between a fully-funded offer at say "Crappy University in dingy location" as opposed to 30,000 at Harvard is a very personal one that both have their benefits and downfalls. In the first option, you may have no debt but going to Harvard gives you a brand name on your resume; and no matter how much you try to negate it, that always looks good when applying for jobs or PhD programs in the future. Just my $0.02.
  3. Hello3angel, this is a factor I also used to make my decision. I'm fairly sure all Ed.M students at HGSE have access to courses at MIT and other Harvard schools, which sounds pretty irresistible to me!
  4. Please do, good luck! =)
  5. Oh wow, sounds you have a lot on your plate - well, good luck in your decision. I'm sure you'll get a great education wherever you decide. What is the other program you're considering? For me it was a toss up between Harvard and Columbia, but I've decided the HGSE program better fits in with my career goals. Still so much to take in though, the pre-mat website for Harvard alone is overwhelming!
  6. Ah, I feel your pain re financial aid packages - I wish you the best of luck! Unfortunately I won't be attending the admit events as I live in London and my budget/schedule won't quite allow it But I am going to try to "attend" as many as the virtual chats and talks as possible. Though I have visited the campus, when I went to speak to an admissions liaison last summer - the grounds and facilities are spectacular to put mildly! I'm fairly sure I am going to attend anyway as it is cheaper than the other options I have going on now (even with $0 in funding) but some money would be nice! Ha. Keep me posted on what you decide
  7. Nice! PSP was the other program I was considering applying to as well. Good luck in your decision and maybe I will see you there! =)
  8. Hey guys, Just thought I'd go ahead and ask if anyone else has been admitted to this program at Harvard for Fall 2012. I believe it's my top choice and would love to get to know anyone else who is considering attending!
  9. Anyone in for Human Development and Psychology Ed.M?!
  10. Sigh, if only I could afford an in-person interview! Nah, a skype interview will be scheduled sometime soon =)
  11. Also, for any Johns Hopkins applicants out there, mass email for interview invites have gone out, to take pace 03/09.
  12. Nice, fellow Denver applicant here! I can't attend the interview weekend as I live too far away, so I'm having a skype/phone interview sometime next week. Let me know how it is, and good luck! =)
  13. Congrats! Is that your top choice?
  14. I see no harm in inquiring what your realistic possibilities of acceptance may be. It shows your enthusiasm in attending the program, which is always a good thing.
  15. Interesting. I sent an email to FA this past weekend asking detailed questions regarding funding, so I'm hoping to hear back today or tomorrow. I'll let you guys know what is said.
  16. Yeah, it makes sense for masters programs to be lower on the priority list at schools. I've applied to 7 and heard back from 3 (2 admits (1 of which is rolling admissions) and 1 interview invite thus far). The other 4 programs all had deadlines in January and February with estimated response times being mid March. It's still early days, though it doesn't feel like it!
  17. So glad everyone seems to be getting some acceptances! =) Just thought I'd ask everyone about their options of financial aid. We all know funding is hard to come by for masters-level students, so what are everybody's ideas? Has anyone received some decent funding packages with their offers?
  18. Accepted to Columbia TC as well! =)
  19. For anyone who is interested, University of Denver seemed to have sent out a mass email for interview invites to their MA program in Counseling Psychology, to be taken place 2/25!
  20. Congrats on your invites Denimfan. Do post if you hear from McGill, NYU or Columbia
  21. Which Penn school did you apply to? I can't speak for anything other than the GSE, but I received my decision 10 days after my phone interview.
  22. They have given me until April 15th. They 'encouraged' me to accept earlier, but I'm obviously not going to accept until I can weigh up all my options.
  23. That's fantastic! Fingers crossed And yeah, from what I understand from both Columbia and NYU's websites combined with the results survey, March is a hot month. Specfically the middle of March, but I get the feeling good news gets delivered before bad, so if you haven't heard by the beginning of April, it could be an indication of rejection :/
  24. Usually they would inform you in case of a rejection. I would email or call admissions, in my experience they are really nice and helpful. Good luck!
  25. Thanks =) And congrats on your interview! You're the first person I've come across so far that is also applying to McGill. How annoying is their application process by the way? Hard copy recommendations? Seriously? Anyway. Good luck, keep us posted!
