I agree with bgreenster. I understand why being first choice is preferable but if you know from the start that there are more qualified people than there are spots available, there is nothing wrong with accepting your spot after being on the waitlist. Once you are off the waitlist you are given the exact same opportunities as all the other students there, the playing field is level. (I was also waitlisted at my undergrad school) Relationships with schools, like with people, build over time, if I believe that a program is right for me I wouldnt hold a grunge against a school for not seeing that right away and choosing me as number 12 for 10 spots. Its not a question of the school "settling", if the field you are applying to is a competitive one.

Letters from SAIC are sent by post. It depends on the program. (this is unfortunate for us international students who get them later!) Also in most schools, different departments send their responses at different times. So until someone hears back from Calarts GD, you have nothing to worry about Song.

Congratulations! and that's a good mindset to have, it's just hard to be confident that the right school will want you during the waiting process

it depends on the program.in some cases you know you are out. in some cases, they just interview people that they had questions to ask to and they might still accept you. generally though, it's not a good sign.

waiting kills

You should just ask the school if they accept skype interviews. The admissions office won't mind you asking, and there have definitely been other students in your situation who applied there before!

Hi canarybones, last year I was contacted for an interview at MICA (Hoffberger) on the 16th of february. I know for a fact that every program there handles their own admissions process in their own time frame. So until people post about Hoffberger or Mt Royal (if you applied there), it's normal not to have heard back! best of luck oh and for the massive envelope story, SAIC did the same thing to me! soo cruel! and redundant since, as you said, we already know we want to go!
