I was wondering yesterday how was your thesis doing!!! All the best!!!

  3. Congratulations, GuitarSlayer! What a wonderful, but difficult choice you have ahead of you!
  4. In addition to transnational approaches, I would say that gender studies still remain strong. Urban/environmental history, memory studies, and digital research are also pretty big now, I think?
  5. Congrats! I grew up in Seattle while my dad got his PhD from UW - you'll love it! I've been a thesis hermit lately, but I'm still lurking! Hope we're celebrating your program decision soon! Best of luck at your remaining schools, regalrenegade!
  6. Congratulations! Best wishes for your career at Princeton and beyond!
  7. It took a couple of weeks, yeah, so try to be patient! And honestly, it was mostly full of information about the department, rather than forms they want you to fill out...so no worries! What they sent me was almost purely stuff meant to sell me on their program. It was a really nice packet!
  8. Yep! I received their enormous info packet in the mail a couple of weeks ago, in addition to the earlier email from the grad program coordinator. Hope that helps!
  9. Thesis rough draft officially completed! Now bring on the revisions...bleh!

Nice that you have a rough!

  10. Congratulations! IU-B is a terrific program, and I'm sure you'll have a wonderful graduate career there!
  11. Thanks, tanzbaer! Hope you also hear some good news from DAAD soon!
  12. Congrats, History Time and vtstevie! Wonderful news!!!
  13. Thanks! I'll be at the Inter DaF Leipzig courses this summer (planning on doing two of the four-week courses back to back). Never been to Germany, so I absolutely can't wait!
  14. I heard back today that I won one of the grants for an intensive language acquisition course! Hopefully, that means the rest of the grant categories might not be too far from returning decisions, too? Best of luck, everyone!
  15. Anyone joining me at UNC-CH this fall?
  16. I'm not sure if this is smaller than in previous years, as well, but UNC said they only accepted 18 students this year.
  17. I would give a lot to be able to go back and un-apply to some of the schools I didn't really have a shot with (*cough* Berkeley, Stanford, and Columbia *cough*). I'd have considerably more in my bank account now, if I could!
  18. Decision made! Now, about that thesis...

  19. The weekend of March 22-23.
  20. This has most definitely been a trying process...but it's almost March, folks! Hang in there.
  21. Thanks, it definitely does! I actually made my decision this weekend, but it's nice to have heard back from all the schools and feel completely, absolutely certain. And now I can stop checking my email 100 times a day! Thanks! Heh - you're right. Stanford's was certainly nothing special...although I'm going to give my lowest rating to Wisconsin, who didn't even bother emailing me to let me know my rejection was ready.
  22. Official Columbia massacre day is here! No surprises at this point, I think. Most of us knew this was coming when we weren't contacted as admits a couple of weeks ago. Hugs to my fellow rejectees, and my sincere congratulations to the admits!
  23. Thanks! Sorry to hear it...try to hang in there - your first acceptance is probably right around the corner!
  24. Thankee kindly!
  25. Oof! Three rejections in as many days this week! Maybe "a rejection a day keeps the doctor away?" Ha ha! :P

Umm, no, Im pretty sure that means you should have a doctor on call! lol

Yuck! Well, at least you were already accepted to some pretty amazing places. UNC is beautiful! That is definitely a wonderful place to go to school.
