FacelessMage got a reaction from LebaneseKafta in Fall 2016 CANADIAN clinical psych applicants
Everyone I know just resubmits the same thing every year, they really don't care. I've also resubmitted the same personal statement, and no one has called me out on it yet (to be honest, they receive so many per year that it's doubtful that they'll remember).

To the person who posted the interview for Texas Tech's counselling program: could you PM your POI and whether you received the email from the grad administrator or from the POI?

Official rejection from Saskatchewan Better start prepping my apps for next year I guess, although I doubt if they didn't find me competitive this year, they're going to be any more favourable net year....

FacelessMage got a reaction from eternallyephemeral in Accepted? What worked for you?!?
I've done all this, and it seems like the more I improve my application, the worst my odds get. I'm on my third round of applications wth no interviews this year, when I always had interviews in the past. I just don't know what more I can do or if it's worth spending another year applying.

I'm not expecting to hear back until the new year, to be honest. Canadian schools are pretty slow...the ones with application deadlines of January 15 don't even contact people until February, and one of those is a top choice. :| I hate the waiting game.

I'm applying to work with John Edens. His research is pretty similar to what I'm doing now.

This is my third year applying to clinical programs. All I have left is apathy to protect my sanity.

FacelessMage got a reaction from ihatechoosingusernames in Professor recommendation past deadline...What shall I do?
Not all of them. One program I applied to disqualified me last year because my supervisor submitted his letter after the deadline.

It was on the online application portal. That, and the website said they would not consider any applications with missing materials.

I'm applying this year! This will be my third time applying to clinical programs, but first time applying outside of Canada.
I'm applying to:
-Simon Fraser University
-University of Saskatchewan
-Ryerson University
-Texas A&M
-University of Southern Florida
-Drexel University
-Texas Tech (counselling though, not clinical)
I'm frantically trying to get my reference letters out to my referees, as I worry that I've left it too late at this point...

Awesome, thanks so much! I was able to access the application ok on Safari last year but Internet Explorer worked (although it hurt to use it)!

FacelessMage got a reaction from homonculus in Applying for Funding
I would apply to any kind of government council funding that you can. I'm not sure what's available in the US, but in Canada almost everyone applies to Tri-Council (SSHRC/CIHR/NSERC) and OGS (if in Ontario). I would take a gander up to the funding section to see what's available.

Thanks for starting the thread! I hope you enjoy your program. The first month of the program can be very overwhelming, but it gets much better!
Where is everything thinking of applying to?

Definitely try an interlibrary loan. Most interlibrary loans these days just send you a PDF scan of the article anyways.

FacelessMage got a reaction from Tuala in I was rejected this year, what do I do now?
To be honest, from what I've been hearing from a bunch of my mentors, the process for getting into clinical programs in Canada is random and department politics play a huge role in who they can accept for a cycle (see: the discussion on Ryerson in the Canadian applicants thread). The only thing I would focus on is getting more publications and possibly finding better reference letters (although just because they're hard on you doesn't mean that they didn't write good letters). Applying to more schools, including those in the US, should help as well, especially if your research interests are more broad. Your GPA and GRE scores are competitive so I wouldn't worry about those.
