I was talking to a friend tonight who's also applying to grad school, and we are both so wracked with anxiety and over-analyzing everything. I joked that we were acting like Bridezillas.... we're GRADZILLAS!
 
With all the irrational things we do and say during application season, such as refreshing emails a million times per day, etc., I thought I'd pose the question to you all:

Hi all... I've been following this forum and posting here & there, but not a reg. I applied to a mix of anthro & history programs, as I'm majoring in both as an undergrad and couldn't decide. I was hoping that this process would choose for me, and indeed it has.

I was admitted to 2 PhD programs: SUNY Albany (archaeology) & UC Riverside (Latin American history). I've decided to go with UCR because I'm fully funded for 5 years and I'll still be close to my family, with a minimal moving expense. I'm a parent so this is important for me.

I'm still waiting for my official rejections from Michigan & Chicago, and I've already turned down Albany because there was no funding. Sucks, cuz I was really excited about Albany's program. Oh well, here's to history :-)

Well, that's nice, but this is the Anthropology section. Grats, though! [insert random engineering meme]

HAHAHAH so, chilling. Having a beer on a Sunday night when a professor from one of the schools I've been admitted to calls to congratulate me..... I could NOT have been less prepared for that conversation......

I GOT INTO CORNELL (funded!)!

I got accepted to University of Washington's MA for comparative religions.  First acceptance of the season.  I know it's not anthro, but I figured I'd post anyways.  Waiting on funding information, they had a few TA positions available. 

if you are getting rejected with all these qualifications then we should jump from the window.

So the most shocking thing to me in this thread is that some people applied to over 10 schools.
 
How the heck are there that many schools with departments which are even vaguely a good fit?

I know right? I've never in my life been this excited for Mondays.

I also had my first acceptance today to SDSU's MA program.  This is my first time applying and I'm SUPER EXCITED RIGHT NOW.  The acceptance letter didn't say anything at all about funding.  I don't know what to do next!
 
YAY FOR THE ACCEPTANCE dtpowis!  I feel the same way, like a huge weight has been lifted from me and I can relax.

An itty bit little better news on my end: I was just accepted into San Diego State's MA program! At least I know I'm going to graduate school at this point.

Well today has been pretty active for me.

Rejected from Princeton and Berkeley.
Asked to interview at Yale.
Accepted at Washington University!

yea, for sure. we can have a nice little commune of grad school rejects, just living off the land.

My feeling is that they will announce by the end of the week. Based on last years posts and my impatient desire to knoooow

I think the level of detail obsession that went into describing this meme is itself a meme for applicants at the GradCafe! Meta-meme?

I feel like if Paranoid Parrot and Socially Awkward Penguin had a weird lovechild, then Insanity Wolf and Clueless College Freshman had an even weirder lovechild, the byproduct of those lovechildren producing a meme-baby would be the most accurate depiction of GradCafe forum users.

Congrats to everyone's acceptances today!
 
I also just got accepted to Irvine's anthro program! Anyone else going to UCI in March to visit?

I also got some good news. Syracuse accepted me today! I am crazy excited and they offered funding too. Super happy.
