itsajerseything Posted January 29, 2019 Share Posted January 29, 2019 So I applied to Columbia Teacher's College School Psychology PhD program in November, and I was wondering if competitive applicants are contacted for interviews? I applied in November and have not heard a word yet. I think that the interview process varies per department (not all programs require an interview at TC), so I was wondering if anyone had any experience specifically with the school psychology program. Also, there's a chance that I may have seriously fucked up... I remember submitting a Resume but not a CV (I don't think that Teachers College required a CV, which I found surprising, but I could have possibly overlooked or misunderstood that in the application). Did other people applying to TC submit a CV? anyone remember if it was required? I may have f*cked up, but there's always next year (I only applied to two programs lol) although a gap year or two between grad and undergrad wouldn't be the worst. I do not know when they will be getting back to us (hopefully in the near future)..but if it makes you feel better, I was at an interview yesterday and there were a few of us who had applied to the School Psychology Ph.D. program at TC and haven't heard anything yet! I was also wondering if anyone has any info about / personal experience with the funding from TC? How much of the tuition is exempt, and how is the stipend (if any was provided)? From what I understand, a lot of this varies between department and degree (masters vs phd) but I'm just curious if anyone has info about this? Pickle123 Posted February 26, 2019 Share Posted February 26, 2019 Hey! I got an interview from the department head a few weeks ago and interviewed on February 20th on campus. There were 8 applicants selected for interviews and I still haven’t heard anything about who was selected from that group. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions. And during the interview just do ask some rather strange questions and tasks that were not related to psychology. For example, I was asked about Shakespeare literature. And I even had to write an essay about Romeo and Juliet. As it turned out, these are tasks that are set for everyone, and they even post examples of completed work right here (use this link). So you shouldn't think that Teachers College requires something strange. This is a normal practice. Due to a large number of university students, they are trying to select the most talented and they should be developed not only in psychology.
