Have you heard back from BU yet?

Which program? If you are talking about the Biology or MCBB program, the only recruitment day was two days ago and they will make the decision in March.

Oops, realized I never quoted the person I meant to quote.

I'm talking about Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics. Interviews were 2/6-2/7. I contacted the admissions office and was told the review process takes 2-3 weeks, so we're getting close to the end of that window. Figured that their top choices have already been informed. Oh well.

I've been wondering the same thing! Nothing for me yet.

For those who already did their interview at NYU Sackler, did you received the names of the faculty you are interviewing with the same day? My interview starts tomorrow and I haven't received any email about who I'm interviewing with.

They sent my itinerary a day and  a half before interview event for me.

Hi all,

I gave an interview at UNC for their BBSP program the weekend of feb 6-8. I received a call stating acceptance to the program from one of the interviewers on 12th feb. I was told I would be receiving the official offer letter in a week but I haven't received anything so far. I'm a little worried now. Is it just me? Did anyone else receive the official offer letter from UNC BBSP?

Got a call on 11th Feb. Then the unofficial letter via email on 13th Feb. Finally the official letter via website on 20th Feb.

Hey!

Thanks for letting me know. When you say via website you mean the portal?

I wonder why I don't see anything on my portal. I also received the unofficial offer letter on Feb 13th.

Yes, the portal. You will be fine. I don’t think they will withdraw the offer. ?

Did you hear from them today?

I did! They said they haven’t made the majority of their decisions because they’re still interviewing international candidates and to expect news maybe next week, possibly the week after.

Anyone heard from the Florida State University Biology, M.S. program?

I was originally told that they would begin looking at applications mid-January, with decisions being made early-February. Emailed admissions counselor and they replied that all decisions should be out by March 1st.

From your list I applied to University of Virginia and haven't heard anything yet, so thank you for posting that! When you contacted them did they say something about international applications being different?

The admission director told me that I'm rejected. Tomorrow will be their final interview date and if you're not invited yet consider it a rejection!

I guess that wave of rejections must have been people who didn't interview?

I would guess so? Unless they’re sending out decisions as they make them, but i was told it would be maybe next week so I don’t imagine they’re doing it that way.

  • Lots of unofficial programming experience
  • I was able to fit in 2 summer research "experiences" last summer by choosing a program that started while my school was still in session, then did a local program after the first program ended....and still did decently in my classes, so I'm hoping this will show the adcomms I have work ethic

Special Bonus Points:

  • Spoke to POIs in person due to diversity visitation programs at some universities

Any Other Info That Shows Up On Your App and Might Matter:

Hello! It's really exciting to see your post. I also applied for the IBSC program at Purdue but haven't received any update yet, would you mind to sharing some information about this program, e.g., when did you take the interview and did you contacted specific professor before applying? Thanks a lot!

Hi! I kind of "interviewed" at Purdue last winter as part of their Graduate Diversity Visitation Program, and was looking at Biochemistry/PULSE/IBSC and associated faculty, although I only interviewed with one faculty member in BME. I was accepted in early January and flew out last weekend for their interview weekend for students that were nominated for internal fellowships, so I got the chance to interview with a few more faculty members in the program! This was for both BME and IBSC students, but all the other prospectives I talked to were BME -- IBSC is much smaller in comparison. I am not sure if they have sent out all acceptances, or are waiting for the results of the fellowships to determine how many other offers to extend. Either way, best of luck!

Thank you very much for your information! That helps me a lot. IBSC is indeed a very cold program, I can rarely find any app result of this program. I submitted my app in early Nov. and got no reply from it for this long. And may I ask whether you were assigned with any advisor in the admission letter or, there's a lab roation in the first year? Thanks!

I went on the 20 something Jan interview weekend and I know that some of the other interviewees also haven't heard back yet, so you are not alone :)

Might be because people are reporting their results under BME, but IBSC BME is a pretty small sub-population of BME. I was not assigned an advisor in the admissions letter, but had an assigned faculty host for the interview/visit. With regards to rotations, I'm pretty sure that there is no formal rotation system.
