Has anyone heard back from UPenn BGS Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics?

I'm also waiting on UPenn BGS. Can you let me know if you hear anything???

The only reply I got so far is from Notre Dame IBMS (interview invite).

Hi there!

I'm also an international student. Out of your list, I applied to NYU and Penn State. I think interview invites have been sent for NYU. Not sure about Penn State or your other programs.

I'm remaining positive though. Trusting that whatever happens, all will be well :)

This is the million dollar question haha! I haven't got a clue. I'm hoping that this is the case. It may mean that we still have a chance for some of the programs :)

just checked penn state website .It stated that interviews for international students will be through skype

This is what got from Yale's website

Applicants whom the admissions committees intend to invite for on-campus interviews will be contacted in December or early January. Applicants who reside overseas will be contacted in February or March to schedule Skype interviews.

Each Track has a slightly different timeline in reviewing applications and making admissions decisions.  Applicants may receive a decision as early as January or as late as April

Do you think its the same for all.

I have noticed one thing using my case.As for Brown,Penn State and NYU the results shown are only from american students whilst for Yale BBS ,some tracks have already acceptances.I applied for BBS/Neuroscience track. So far no results.

Do you think all December interviews have been sent out already? I know many programs used to send invites on December 21st the latest but this year its a Saturday...

Should we just hope/pray we have better luck in January?

Hi everyone!

I am an international student and I haven’t yet heard about any of the programs I have applied to, not even rejections (which I expect from most of them though, as they are all top league universities) do you think I should be asking them if they have finished sending out interviews or wait until January?

A little more on my background:

international student, no gre, 117/120 in toefl, doble undergrad in pharmacy and biotechnology GPA:3,95/4,00. Graduated as top of my class (1/80 I think, but I’m not sure how many people there are in my program to be honest) , 40/49 subjects in undergrad grades with honors, and my studies were funded completely by my university and regional government. Received other awards and scholarships based on my academic achievements throughout my undergrad

No publications. bachelor thesis graded with honors and 3 years of experience working in a neuro pharmacology lab in my uni with an scholarhip+1 summer internship abroad+ future (starting in March) Erasmus research stay in Karolinska Institute working on Alzheimer’s.

Spent a semester in Uchicago (one of the universities I applied too) and managed to get recommendation letter from one of my professors there (not research related though, she has a law and entrepreneurship background)+ 2 recommendations letter one form my PI in Spain and another from professors in my undergrad.

I know that just good grades won’t get me into any program, so be sincere please on your opinions.

Thank you.

I saw in the results that some people received invitations for the Gerstner Sloan Kettering on Dec 18th. Do you know if they send it in batches or they already done sending invites?

Sloan Kettering probably sent all invites all at once, extrapolating from what they did in the past 2 years. They usually have their interview weekend really early as well.

I saw that you already heard from Weill Cornell - congratulations! As you know those two programs are historically very closely related and the faculty you wish to work with at GSK are likely available through Weill Cornell as well. If they're not, you can still possibly contact them/the admin to see if they could be added to the faculty list at Weill Cornell and be your adviser.

Thanks. Yes, luckily the faculty members I have an interest in are available through Weill Cornell.

Hi! I am also an international applicant. I applied to but haven't heard back from the following programs: Harvard MCO, MIT Biology, Princeton Molecular Biology, UCSD Biological Sciences, Duke DSCB, and UC Davis BMCDB. Except for MIT Bio, does anyone know if other programs have sent out all the interview invites? Or can I still expect them to sent out another wave of invites after the holidays? Thanks in advance!

International applicant applied to Harvard, GSK, Weill Cornell, Sinai, NYU Sackler, Columbia biomedical sciences/immuno programs. So far only got 1 interview invite from NYU on 12/20. Anyone knows if these schools continue to send invites after the holidays? I saw so many people got their invites and it’s already the end of Dec so I’m starting to freak out ??.

I just got an email from the Immunology home program inviting me for an interview, and they included this:

"The 14 Ph.D. Admissions Committees all operate on their own timelines, so your friends and coworkers may or may not have heard from us or another Biosciences Program yet.  Please understand that "no news does not mean bad news,” as our Admissions process will not conclude until mid-January.  So, please keep this in mind when sharing your good news with others."

All the best!

Congrats! To clarify, you applied to the "Immunology", not "Microbiology and Immunology" home program in Stanford correct? Trying to figure out if I still have a shot at an interview. Thanks.

Thank you! I specifically applied to the "Immunology" home program and that is the department I am interviewing with. I hope this helps!

Yale BBS wrote to me this message:

Thank you for your message.  The Yale Biological and Biomedical Sciences office will be closed beginning Monday, December 23 and will reopen on Thursday, January 2.  Please note the following important information:Our application deadline was December 1. Although we are accepting late applications until January 2nd, we cannot guarantee that late submissions will receive full consideration.Applicants residing in the US will be invited in December or very early January for on-campus interviews that will take place in February.  Overseas applicants will be invited for Skype interviews at a later date.

From Penn State Biomedical Sciences

All international applicants currently residing outside of the US will be reviewed in early/mid January and decisions regarding Skype interviews will be made at that time.

From NYU Biomedical Sciences

Thank you for the follow up. While we have sent some invitations to interview, we have not sent any acceptances or rejections. Our interview dates are January and February, so you could hear from us anytime between now and the end of February.

Relax guys and take it easy.

I’m an international student with a degree from a private US institution. I’m applying to:

-UW Seattle (MCB, M3D, Pharmacology, and Immunology

-UT Houston/MD Anderson GSBS

-Yale BBS, MMPP track

So far I’ve only heard from UW pharmacology with an interview invite. Crossing my fingers for all the other programs! Good luck to everyone:)

Update: Signed up for interview/recruitment weekends with UW M3D and Pharmacology. Got a rejection from MCB (VERY competitive and not my best fit, so neither surprised nor disappointed:)). I've gotten no news since the holidays.

UW M3D and Yale BBS are my top choices. So excited for the interview invite, and anxious waiting for ANY news on the other. Would be interested in knowing if Yale has invited all their candidates for the interview weekend. They accept applications up until the 2nd so crossing my fingers there might still be hope........

Good luck everyone! Stay positive:)

I've heard from Augusta University that they will begin reviewing applications on December 15, but that is all I have heard.

Sorry for the delay in getting this information out.  I had a death in the family over the holidays.  However, before Christmas I got an interview invite from Augusta University.  I will be going to campus for the interview in February.

Good luck to everyone else!
