I was thinking to drop an email I just asked Upenn a few minutes ago. I am not sure what other school I should ask. I emailed and asked if all interview invitation were sent out to domestic students and international students at the same time.

I'm not sure how accurate this information is though. Hopefully, you'll hear some good news soon! I believe some RISD departments, like printmaking, accept students without interviews. But painting and sculpture require interviews.
refereemandem Posted February 2, 2022 Posted February 2, 2022 risd painting interview notice... 5 days ago, but I didn't see it until yesterday. It was tucked away in my promotions folder in gmail - don't forget to check your promotions tab if you haven't already. Strawberrycat 1

blueviolet Posted February 2, 2022 Posted February 2, 2022 I applied to the following MFA programs for ceramics: LSU UNL Alfred VCU SIUE Did anyone else apply to these programs or does anyone know the timeline for interviews/admissions decisions for these? Thanks

I also applied in MFA Sculpture at Hunter. wow! I hope we get a good news soon. But I am not that hopeful for myself tbh. I know my portfolio is pretty promising but my statement was a mess. I could have done better. Where did you see their work? Instagram? I heard their MFA is really cool, a bit more self driven and yet intensive.

On the Hunter MFA website you can browse the current students and filter to show the people in the sculpture concentration, just took another look and there's actually a pretty vast range of the kind of work people are making. I really like the idea of it being a fairly self driven program, I'm used to working on my own but am just craving the community of artists to bounce ideas off of. Should only be another week or two before we hear about interviews based on past forums! I wouldn't worry too much about the essay, if the work intrigues the committee they'll want to talk to you! How important do you people think the vibe of a program is? Are some schools more open to different styles and some schools more stuck in a certain type of work?

I also found it interesting that its three years studio based program. You can really explore different dimensions during those years. I also heard that the student strength there is quite low because many students left the program due to Pandemic. As far as I know there are only 4 students in second year graduate program. Let's see. I think vibe is really important. Someone once told me that graduate schools look for the right "fit". It doesn't necessarily means that if your work is amazing you'd get an offer, the work should fit in the school program. It more like dating your work kind of thing lol Forms Without Formula 1
nameless cat Posted February 2, 2022 Posted February 2, 2022 (edited) Very exciting news! I just heard back from UO for interview request! It had been a while since another member shared they had received one, so there is still hope if you haven't heard from places yet! I applied for everything the day it was due so maybe they are processing in order they are received. I'm losing a little hope about hearing from UPenn.... I'm not sure if anyone shared, but immediately after you submit your app they send a a request to record an interview. Prerecorded questions, after each question the camera turns on, you have one minute and it shuts off. No redo's. It went VERY poorly for me.
