It is something else. If I remember correctly, last year they sent an email early April to say that we would be receiving an email to set up the extranet (what an unnecessary hear attack that email caused) and then they sent out the extranet info at the end of April (I got it April 28) and the results were already uploaded when I signed in.

Good luck everyone, the closer it gets to the last week of April, the harder the wait! FYI, this is my third time applying, first time didn't make it out of the university, last year made it to the final round with a relatively high score (close but no cigar). Just remember it is not a reflection on the worth of your scholarship if you don't get it (or so I keep telling myself :-))

So much this.  This is my first time applying, and I am really curious what my score will be like.  When I looked at last year's results, it looked like a lot of scores which would have been funded in previous years were not funded.

Okay, good to know. Thanks! Sorry . . . first time applying, so I have lots of questions. Do you get to see your scores when you see your result?

Yes you do. It doesn't provide a lot of information beyond a score though (I was forwarded from my institution a couple of years ago, but waitlisted with a "decent' score). It's a score out of 20. Some will depend on the committee that is evaluating though. For instance, there were some people with 13/20 that were waitlisted, and others that scored 14/20 and got the bombardier award.

My understanding (from a faculty member who has sometimes evaluates these for SSHRC) is that there is an enormous amount of subjectivity, and one hopes one doesn't have a "grouch" evaluating your application that day.

Have the emails about creating an account for the extranet come out yet? This is my second year applying and the first time my application has made it out of the university. I'm trying to be patient but my excitement is getting the better of me!

My goodness, I can't figure out how to delete this old quote box from last year, maybe I don't deserve a SSHRC after all lol

To build on Saiyph's response, you do only get the score, however, I have heard that you can request feedback afterwards. I haven't done this myself, so I don't have any advice to give but a colleague got feedback to ramp up their methodology section, for example. I think there may be a time limit in which you can get feedback, but I can't be sure.

It is so subjective! I have heard of the infamous 'bad day' reader, the reader who hates a certain word you happened to uses (did you dare to use the word lacuna?), and the reader who only gives high scores to those whose work resembles their own research areas and interests.

To answer Sam, I haven't received anything about the extranet yet, if they follow last year it will probably be at the same time as the results (last week of April/first week of May). I remember being really excited last year too! This year I am trying to tamp down on that so I don't get so crushed as last year ?

My classmate (same program and institution) just got the email about this ~10 min ago, but my inbox is empty. It’s odd they’d send them at different times. Anyone else still waiting for the email?

Yeah got mine yesterday too! After reading this forum I knew it was coming and yet I still had a minor heart attack reading that subject line.

Hi everyone,

I too just received an email from SSHRC saying my results are posted to the extranet. But the link provided does not work.

What a joy.

I got the email as well, but both links bring me to the exact same page. There is nowhere to register on that page. What the heck!

Glad to know it's not just me.  Every. Year. It's. Something.  I'm also glad this is my last year dealing with this crap.

Me too! I'm dying here. I tried calling but help desk is closed already. Leave it to SSHRC to give the wrong links.

Why would they send out emails when they're closed for the day? That makes no sense.

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a show to put on in the background as I click this link over and over again all night?

Asking for a friend.

Well it's been almost an hour since I got the email, and there were no follow-up emails with any corrections, so I'm assuming we won't find out anything until tomorrow.
