Anyone know if Yale interviews all potential acceptances? Saw someone got an interview request today and wanting to manage expectations.

In previous years there have been interview requests sent out over a couple of days by Yale, not en masse like Rutgers did this cycle. So my hope is it's up to each POI to send emails to interview who they want.

Good question. Do they interview all top applicants or only some of the top applicants while some others might actually get offers without interviews?

I really have no idea, BUT my sense from years of previous posts suggests they only admit those they interviewed.

Hi folks! Just wanted to say hi and wish everyone the best of luck in the coming weeks/months. I'm a first time (PhD) applicant straight out of undergrad with a degree in sociology, but only two of the programs I'm applying to are soc (both of which are on the west coast). Heard nothing so far yet but based on previous years that's to be expected. Super nervous but trying to channel that energy positively!

(If anyone is curious, my research interests are in the realm of gender/sexuality, culture, ethnography, and health/illness.)

I emailed a professor (a while back) and he said:

"If you are admitted into our program (and if you enroll), we would meet to discuss working together. In other words, I don't influence admittance decisions and these decisions don't depend on me "taking" new students. Rather, you apply and the Graduate School's and department's admissions committees make the decisions."

Hi, I received the same interview request only from the student rep. I think the faculty interview will come later.

I saw on results updates that UCI sociology are starting to do their interviews and sending out emails. I wonder if all the interview emails are sent today, or would the process extend into a few more days? I am really worried to see them popping up with today's date and I have not really get one in my mailbox.

According to the results page from previous years, interview invites tend to be sent out over a few days, so it takes time. Good luck with getting interview invites!

Hey all,

Does anyone know about Northeastern University's sociology program, or from previous experience? I only received a "pre-admission" event invite as a "top candidate." The event will be on campus in Boston this year and they will reimburse most of the cost. However, the concept of "pre-admission" is new to me; my understanding of that is similar to "waitlisted." Not sure what to expect..

Thanks in advance! :)

I received an email an hour ago from a POI, so I assume the timing depends on each professor

Has anyone gotten an invite to Northeastern’s in person event? I just got one, trying to see who else got one and is going.

I got one too, and thinking about going since I haven't heard from other programs at this point.

I don't have a horse in this race (didn't apply to Sociology programs this cycle) but is there a point of contact for you to ask for clarification regarding 'pre-admission'?

Thank you!! Yes, I think I am clear now about this.

Hi all, just wondering if CUNY interview requests come out all on the same day? Or are they more rolling?

I got an invite too, can you explain what you think the pre-admission event is exactly? My mentor said I was basically in but to treat it like a formal interview??

Hi, I'm not totally sure. I received mine last week. Seems like they could be rolling based on the history. Some interviews happened in late January last year while some happened in early February. Best of luck!

I got my invite a couple years back around a week after everyone else. I was convinced I was rejected at that point. Not trying to keep you clinging to false hope, but I wouldn't assume it's over until we're well into February. It also somewhat matters on professor. My advisor (who is great) takes a little longer than some others to do administrative stuff sometimes. Knowing him now, I'm thoroughly unsurprised that I heard later than others.

Edit: I have no real inside info on this, though. Just explaining my personal experience.
