Columbia is definitely done. Email from PA yesterday, who had been incredibly positive about my chances before (see ). Apparently, the Jewish history field got majorly screwed for the second year running, and had no admits for any of the 4 professors. I was told that my file was first ranked for the entire subfield-- which doesn't make this hurt any less. More, maybe, since it really wasn't about me and was instead about politics. Will most likely now need to move away from my husband, who is in a graduate program in NY for at least the next year. Ugh.

I'm sorry to hear that, History Hopeful. There's nothing worse than departmental politics getting in the way of an otherwise clear admission!

Have the people who have been accepted to Minnesota heard yet about funding or stipends for Recruitment Weekend yet? I'm being really impatient about this, I know. I was just accepted last week and, since it looks like I will be rejected from UPenn..., they're my top choice, I think!

More generally, when do programs generally provide specific funding info?

FYI...checked Wisconsin this morning and found out I was "declined". Two rejects so far and no accepts, so freaking dejected right now.

Checked Wisconsin today as well. I'm in the same boat, so far, I'm 0-2. I'm looking at it all as positive news. A rejection means the list of possible places I could live next year is shorter. An acceptance with funding means I know where I'm going to live.

I'm hoping you have some good news for us BadgerHopeful.

Thanks, Jeppe. It felt pretty awful- much worse than Yale and Princeton. The match was perfect, and I had the full support of two advisors. Just goes to show that nothing is ever a done deal.

Not yet, no. My PA said that the offer is in the mail. Given that I live in Hawaii, it'll probably take some time to get to me!

I received an E-mail a few weeks ago from the Professor I applied to work with at Columbia asking me to elaborate more on my language capabilities. I did, he thanked me, and i haven't heard from Columbia since. Seeing as decisions have been given out, I guess this means I'm rejected..... :(

Any opinions? I was really hoping for a positive reply from Columbia, or any reply at all.

first admit came this morning, from my fallback school, UKentucky! Nice to have some positive news, really changes the dynamic of the waiting game.

I grew up in Kentucky and know a lot of people that went/go to UK. Congratulations on your acceptance!

Got my first positive piece of news today. Email from the University of Nebraska (my fallback school) that I was recommended by the History Department for admission. No final word, and no word on funding yet (which is scarce), so nothing to get really excited about. Some schools will take anyone that'll write a check for tuition.

thanks! I've never been to Lexington, but randomly, I work with 3 native Kentuckians who lived in Lexington for a time. They have good things to say about the city, and my advisers have had good things to say about the faculty there. Nice to hear something positive.

I've received two emails from prospective advisers recently and both were labeled as spam by Gmail, one was in there for a day and a half !!! So make sure you guys check your spam.

I use Gmail. All I see are stuff for sex. :D

Why? Anyone who gets waitlisted SHOULD be happy! Being waitlisted is better than being rejected outright. When I found out that I waitlisted last year, I couldn't stop smiling all day. :)

AND Columbia's covering some of the cost... Waitlisted people don't get to visit until they've been accepted and offered travel reimbursement.

I'm curious about the last line here. It seems to me that all people invited to History Day have been offered travel reimbursement. This post indicates otherwise. Where is the information coming from? By which I mean, people on the waitlist were also invited for History Day and offered reimbursement. I know cause this is my situation.

I know it is not a top choice for most Americans, but has anyone applied to/heard from the University of Toronto yet? According to the results page, someone got accepted on Saturday (is that odd?). That’s my top choice, I’m going mental :)

My Gmail only offers me Viagra. I'm a woman. FAIL.

On a happier note, it's as official as I feel like it will be from LSU. They sent me an email that said I had up until the first day of classes in the fall to get them my grad certificate transcript that officially said I got degree. Yay?

Same here. Only Viagra and XXXXX enhancement pills. I almost think my public image on the internet is synonymous with their targeted consumer

anybody know anything about when texas will announce decisions? i remember seeing one acceptance on here, but...?

Texas is the decision I'm going crazy over the most. It has to be soon, but not soon enough.

Can I just say, this is the worst roller-coaster I have ever been on - no ups but all downs! Wait, poor analogy, that would be a great roller-coaster, right? I don't know anymore, I am losing my mind and hope.

Just one acceptance, that is all I ask universe. Otherwise, it is an online PhD for me
