I haven't seen any change in my application status. It's still we have received your application and currently reviewing it. I'd take it as a rejection. Did you contact anyone there before applying?

Thanks, man. I definitely wouldn't take it as a rejection. As far as I can tell, Austin rolls out their decisions in waves. That could well mean that you're wait-listed or perhaps that they simply haven't finished looking at the body of apps. I wouldn't get too worried just yet. (Easier said than done, I concede...)

I called UT-Austin RTF Department. In case anyone else is wondering they said they are finalizing their list and decisions will be sent via email "any day now"

Hey guys, a couple of posters got rejection emails from the RTF, UT-Austin. What's going on there...

Has anyone received admission emails?

Has anyone heard back from PhD in Communication Science at UW-Madison? I've seen some result posts but I think most of them are notification of Cultural Studies. Thanks.

Hi! I was accepted to the Communication Science doctoral program--but it was super early (January). At that time, they told me that they hadn't made decisions on the other applicants yet. I haven't seen or heard of any other acceptances or rejections, so it seems like they are still deliberating. Good luck!! I hope you get some good news soon!!

And what about funding in Texas-Austin? At first I was considering them because they have a professor I would really love to work with but then I found out that their stipend is too low for me to live there... I wonder if something has changed, or perhaps I was misinformed by their grad coordinator?

Congrats, Gooner, on UT-Austin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, XOwlfan! It's the strangest acceptance I've received yet, though. The department hasn't contacted me about anything; I just got a form e-mail telling me to check the web site and lo, there's a form letter from the Grad School saying I'm in. Exciting? Certainly. Welcoming? Not so much.

I have also heard from a couple of folks that their funding usually isn't the greatest, but I figured it was worth a shot since I found a few faculty members I could easily see myself working with and have heard great things about the school. Hopefully I'll be hearing about their support package soon and our perceptions will be proven wrong. :)

Do tell us details about funding when you hear some details!

Oh, and congratulations on your acceptance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

To the person who posted Acceptance to U Georgia Congratulations! I would be interested in talking. Could you send me a private message. Thanks!

Thanks! I just got word that one of the faculty should be calling me "soon," so hopefully I'll have some news to share then..

Also, for anyone looking at UMiami, I just heard that they're currently reviewing applications and hope to have decisions ready by the end of this week or next week. Best of luck to all. :)

Thanks for sharing this. Normally I would freak out. But as I know by now: Universities just like to torture Fulbrighters or - more likely - my notification got stuck somewhere between the thousand steps it has to go through (at Fulbright, after being sent out by the school) before it reaches me. If somebody is sick or has a lot of work or is out of office for a day - my decision will not be forwarded and can't be processed by the next person - hence can't reach me.

So I think I'll hear from the schools a lot later than all of you. I'm trying to see it as a good sign that I haven't heard a word yet. In any case: I'll let you know as soon as I know anything and I'll post on the result board.

I wish you all the best of luck as well. Maybe I'll meet some of you in person in six months :)

Gooner,

I just checked the website and saw that I was accepted to Texas at Austin. But, like you, no word on funding yet.

Cheers, mate! If you hear anything about funding, visitation weekends, etc., let me know. I'll be sure to do the same. :)

Ouch. Just got a response to my email to the grad coordinator in the Comm Studies department at UNC.

"Once the decisions are finalized, you should be getting an email from the Graduate School. It shouldn't take much longer. Thank you for your patience."

Since the acceptance that was posted was received via the postal service, I'm guessing this will be my second rejection. Since so many of us on the board applied to UNC, I'm a little surprised that none of the other acceptances have shown up in anyone's mailbox yet...Who the heck are they accepting???

By the way: It's great that you share all the news you get form the departments. It's really helpful since I'm not allowed to contact the departments myself. Thank you!

Hey, no problem. That's what we're all here for, right?

I suppose the post on the results board could be fake, but they definitely notified by postal service last year. Though that was for all notifications--acceptances, waitlist, and rejections. But I know some schools are still using postal service for acceptances and email for the mass rejection.

Hi All! Congrats to those that have been accepted!

Can anyone claim the recent Upenn Annenberg admittance decision on the results board? I'm dying to know details (when I'm not frantically making sure my phone is still on or checking my e-mail).

Thanks!

To the UNC folks: I've been creeping on the results board, looking at UNC's overall method of notifications across various departments, and it seems as if they've moved to email across the board this year. If you look at all the notifications--acceptance or rejection--they're by email, except for the lone Communication acceptance, which makes me think it's likely a fake.

It's a plausible theory, I think. I actually don't understand why so many other people but the first poster have not been told yet.

Rejected from U Penn Annenberg, but don't worry for me, I definetely saw it coming :P

Mainly because the fit between professors there and my research is really far-fetched... I decided to apply there just in case, - well, my perception of the situation was all correct :)

excellent recon sir/madam!! In light of this information I retract the above pessimistic statement. Though I just got accepted to SUNY Stony Brook's Cultural Studies program, so UNC is now less crucial for me. I mean I'm still really excited about the program, but I'm not sure if it's as good a fit as SBU. Though UNC may more generous with funding... So we shall see.

Strangefox--sorry to hear of your rejection from Penn, but glad to hear you're upbeat about it! I felt similar about USC's AmStudies program (which I was rejected from).
