11Q13 Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 I haven't a clue. I wouldn't have known they have met at all if it was for thegradcafe
maklelan Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 I received notice that my application was rejected by UT - Austin on the 7th.
NTstudent Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 I have received a couple of generic e-mails from Baylor to the effect of, "These are all the reasons that Baylor is a fantastic place for graduate studies . . ." After applying in NT, I did not receive an invitation to interview at Baylor, but I'm wondering if this means anything or if everyone else is also receiving them? A friend of mine who applied last year (in systematics) received a similar e-mail and was waitlisted. He thought it might be something they send to candidates with high GRE scores. Anyone else who applied to Baylor getting these gut wrenching e-mails?
maklelan Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 MakleIan, to which program did you apply, Religious Studies or Near Eastern Studies? I've applied to RS and am anxious to hear word! I applied to Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures.

I think your friend is right—I believe they send these emails to folks above a certain GRE score, but that's only a hunch.
tonywomack87 Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Geo13: I interviewed and haven't heard anything; based on no posts in the Results Search, I would say that Vandy has not yet sent their decisions. I will post in the Results area as soon as I hear.
Lux Lex Pax Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 I saw acceptances to Emory and Vanderbilt. Congrats! Does anyone happen to know what subfields they were in?
maklelan Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 I'm waiting on Emory also (Hebrew Bible), although I didn't get invited to their interview weekend.
ûl ʾašerātō Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Has anyone heard from UCLA yet (NELC)? I saw someone post an acceptance into an MA program, but haven't seen anything on PhD. Based upon the last few years on the results search, they begin announcement in mid-February. But, I spoke with the Student Affairs officer this past week, and she assured me that the committee hadn't even met yet! #conflictinginformation
Ganymede18 Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 UToronto Center for Medieval Studies just announced, don't know if anybody here applied there.
S1833T Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 I saw someone posted on the results page that Fordham has started acceptance calls, has anyone else heard anything from them?
katholou Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 I just returned from Baylor's preview weekend. I'm not sure that I'll end up there - it's a good fit, but not a perfect one - but I did want to give the program a plug. I was quite impressed with both their faculty and their NT students, and their stipend to cost of living ratio for qualified students is probably better than any other school's (outside of ND's top scholarships). If anyone's scoping out places to apply for NT in the future, definitely give them a look. The Pierre Menard 1
tenorcervantes Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Looks like some people got acceptances from Vanderbilt. Congrats! I didn't get called for interview for Vandy if that means I'm out of the running I wish they would just send rejections out alreayd.
Hanover Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Just saw that somebody had gotten waitlisted for the Duke Th.D. Any idea if all acceptances/wait lists have gone out yet?
katholou Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 I Skype interviewed this morning with Chicago for Bible this morning, and I see that someone else has received an unofficial acceptance today - I appear to have been weighed in the balance and found wanting. Congrats to the acceptee!
tenorcervantes Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 I heard that one of my colleagues was accepted to UCSB. Although I don't know of any other information for the rest of applicants.
lovelylucy Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Has anyone heard from UVa yet? I'm going mad with the waiting... TheHymenAnnihilator 1

Lux Lex Pax Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 I really hate telemarketers. I received a phone call earlier today from an unknown number and got excited. I answered to hear a recorded voice on the other side selling me something. Ugh. What bad timing.
Laxman1945 Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Got rejection e-mail from Duke ThD today. Since I haven't heard back from Notre Dame (History of Christianity), should I assume I have been rejected there? Still waiting on SMU/Perkins as well - although I don't think anyone has heard back from them yet.

The day I got accepted to UW-Madison I got a call from a Wisconsin number. I got really excited because I thought it was going to be my POI calling to talk about funding, but it turned out to be one of my students. She probably wondered why I was so short with her...

ND has already sent out invites for the interview weekend, but if you haven't received a rejection, then I wouldn't consider yourself rejected. You may be on a 'maybe' list and they'll have to see how things pan out at the interview weekend. They have 2 slots and are interviewing 5 people.

OMG just the other day I got a random wrong number call from Providence Rhode Island. I about flipped my lid when I saw the phone ring. I was sure it was Brown >_<
