Rewarding or treating yourself?

I have already been accpeted into one of my "lesser choice" schools, and already bought myself a reward (lol). I got a really pretty laptop bag/messenger bag/ breifcase thing. Wohooo, now I can carry all my apple products in one bag!

 

My reward if I get into one of my top three schools: QUIT MY JOB!! (because all three schools are out of the area. ;P )

I got accepted to my top choice yesterday! To celebrate I went out with my husband and had a nice dinner. I am rewarding myself by taking lessons to learn to play my new alto saxophone! I start on Monday

I feel like the only one here who is more likely to buy myself a consolation gift than a reward  - if I'm accepted, I'll be looking at five more years where every penny counts, instead of an increased income at a gainful job. Too practical?

I think my favorite  white wine will be involved in either case.

 

Rejection means I'll wallow in the bottle a bit and at least enjoy what I'm drinking, as I plan my next year of applications. 

Acceptance means fuck yeah, I'm calling my boyfriend to share the joy of acceptance and wine. 

 

Also, I swear I'm not an alcoholic. It's just my favorite wine, and I rarely buy it.

Before school starts I'm going to buy myself a new backpack or messenger bag is make me feel all grad chic, hahaha (plus I've been using the same backpack all throughout undergrad).  A school hoodie/jacket sounds like a nice idea too.  I already got my macbook air for myself as a undergrad graduate present to myself (and so I could feel better about going through round 2 of applications on a nice new mac--again, I had the same mac all through undergrad).  I think I might get a new desk too...

Hehe sounds good!  If you have some good suggestions for backpack/messenger bags, send them my way...I won't be shopping for mine until maybe summer, but I'm still debating on what I should get.

I have 2 acceptances and am awaiting a decision from more 3 places. At the moment I don't feel much like celebrating - perhaps just because it feels so strange finally getting an offer (after a long, stressful time), though also because I've been rejected from my Top Choice and still waiting to hear back from the Second Top. The acceptances feel kinda bittersweet after the rejection.

 

I think I owe myself a spa & sauna trip for the two acceptances.

If I hear back something positive from the Second and Third Top I owe myself a holiday to Switzerland to catch up with friends. 

When I sign along the dotted line to formally accept an offer I will be heading out for a night of expensive (non-alcoholic) cocktails with friends.
