msknight86 Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 My undergrad is business management too. As long as you have a strong resume in social workk.... i was told this when i contacted long beach. The assistant said undergrad doesn't matter. I'm playing the waiting game too. Good luck yeah. i found that out after. I didn't go to the info sessions. All i put down was volunteer work but we shall see. I received a letter from csula today that I was rejected.
Katherinewr Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Does anyone know how the notification appears on wolverine access? So far I only see status of application, which just indicates it's been submitted. Will am separate notice pop up? I'm dying to hear back! Thank you everyone and good luck!
jarenolds Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 (edited) When you click on "Application Status" there are 2 links there- application data and credentials. Once they have made your decision a decision one will come up next to those two. I personally got an email before anything ever popped up on there though. Edited February 25, 2014 by jarenolds

bellebruin Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Just got my acceptance letter to SDSU a couple of days ago! I was so nervous and could not believe how early I heard back from them since when I emailed them, they told me late March. For once, in a long time, I feel like I can relax until the semester starts! Did anyone here apply or hear back from SDSU? I haven't seen too many posts about SDSU on here. Looking forward to being a graduate student this fall!
sling930 Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Has anyone heard from Fordham or Rutgers? I'm so nervous!
Jordanna Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Hey! I really need a confidence boost cause I keep having nightmares that none of my schools ( Columbia, NYU and Fordham) will want me. I have a 3.7 undergrad GPA and a 3.9 major GPA in social work. I am the university choir president. and the president of another school women's group. I have two years in field placement experience. I went to El Salvador on my spring breaks, I am a gold award girl scout. Can someone please tell me if you think I have a shot at my schools? Thank you! Hey, Someone may have replied to your post, but I wanted to let you know that you have a wonderful chance. My CGPA is 2.83 when I applied to Columbia Social Work (however my GPA in my fourth year was a 4.0 cuz i worked my ass off) & I GOT IN! So in terms of marks, don't even hesitate! However, I did numerous internships internationally, and have many research experience and publications and awards. I just really fucked up in my first two years of undergrad so my CGPA suffered. Those with low GPA's don't lose hope y'all! esimanon 1
esimanon Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 @Jordanna - Congrats! I think your admittance to a great program really speaks to the field of social work - excelling in the face of adversity (adversity as defined by a society that expects perfection even though being a human means a yin and yang of experience) - that's what it's all about! rock on! Jordanna 1
hiclub2 Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 My overall GPA 3.3 and I still havent heard a word from Columbia and got rejected by two schools.
jencita Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 I just heard back from UW- I got accepted! Anyone know when we might hear back from Cal?
ninjasize Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 i went to the usc school of social work master program 10 years ago. now waiting to hear if i was accepted to the phd program. the waiting is worse than getting the rejection. they hold day long group interviews in late march. they've sent out rejection notices. waiting waiting waiting. hoping no news is good news?
KNik Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 hiclub2, there's really no reason to lose hope. The reality is, you seem to have applied to a lot of really selective schools who probably reject plenty of quality candidates. My advice is this: 1. consider broadening your search. Maybe apply to some schools that are a little less selective and accept a greater variety of students. 2. If you have your heart set on a more difficult school, take some time to improve your application. If your GPA is weak, take more undergrad classes, or try to gain some more experience and volunteer or research to try and makeup for a lower GPA. Don't spend your time staring at a closed door when you can spend it looking for an open window. Best of luck! HopefulMSW, esimanon and LishaGrey 3
hiclub2 Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Yes your right. I should apply less selective schools. I have to look for open doors. I will always remember your advice. Thanks LishaGrey and esimanon 2
Jordanna Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I would also suggest looking at schools that offer good funding, if finance is something that is important to you. I got accepted to Columbia but am probably going to defer it because its just way too expensive for me right now. esimanon 1
hiclub2 Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 I dont have any option at the moment. I will take columbia if I get in
casualrunnergal Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 I got accepted to Smith today! I was wait-listed in early February, and they informed me they'd have a final decision by the end of March. I didn't expect to hear back so early. Now it's between U of Michigan and Smith... still waiting to hear back from Columbia.

Have you heard anything about financial aid from Michigan? Thanks!
CaliforniaDreamer Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Has anyone heard back from California State East Bay or SFSU???
mswcandidate2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 It appears that several programs have not released decisions on the Advanced Standing applications yet. Has anyone been accepted into an Advanced Standing Program at this point?
jencita Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Nope, from the confirmation e-mail I got from East Bay, it doesn't sound like they will not notifying for awhile, "I do not expect to hear back from the reviewers about your admission status until April or May. At this time I do not know when I will begin sending acceptance/denial letters to applicants." However, I applied to the 3 year program, and didn't get my application in until the last minute, so perhaps others will hear back sooner? SFSU, nada.
tcking6 Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Finally heard back from Case Western--Accepted; Applied 2-1-14
ediblestranger Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Finally heard back from Case Western--Accepted; Applied 2-1-14 Congratulations on your acceptance to Case! Would you mind sharing your stats? I am interested in applying to Case for Fall 2015 and am trying to gauge my chances, which has been difficult to do online given the relative obscurity of the program compared to other programs. I bet you are so excited. tcking6 1
