victorydance Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I know that there is some kind of mythical status surrounding the Ivy League, but I think that Stanford is "way more prestigious" than Princeton in 2015. Not really. Highly depends on the discipline. Marst and MathCat 2

I loved this one. The mix of indignant frustration was just perfect. elijahbaley 1

zadigblue Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 (edited) I have just seen the notification on their website. It feels being broken up via text message. I thought we hit it off UIC!! Pretty much exactly how I feel about hearing rejection status through a portal as well... Edited March 10, 2015 by zadigblue
Wishful Thinker Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Whew! Dodged a bullet there, their department is a hot mess and every student I've talked to wants to die. Why apply then?!
Wishful Thinker Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 I am the Leonardo DiCaprio of grad schools. Year after year never getting recognized by white old dudes for my good work. and: You poked my heart. LOL

They admitted too many weak applicants last year so they have to reject a lot of good applicants who even deserve PhD... Haha the Stanford ones are pretty good sometimes. I'm sure Stanford rejected you because you were overqualified.... mockturtle, mu-zach and elijahbaley 3

The most racist place in Canada. Never mind. Taking a fantastic program in UC-Irvine. Well, okay! Glad you didn't get into a university in the most racist place in Canada, especially after applying (I assume, in earnest).
Perhaps Later Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 (edited) Civil Engineering, PhD (F15) Rejected via Website on 10 Mar 2015 I could not find any professors. .letmeinplz// Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 (edited) Haha the Stanford ones are pretty good sometimes. I'm sure Stanford rejected you because you were overqualified.... If you are too good for Stanford what are you supposed to do? I guess you would have to start your own university at that point. I think people take rejections way too personally (though I guess they are judging your personal accomplishments and future goals so it is personal). Sometimes a school just doesn't have room for you for whatever reason. Being sassy about it isn't going to change things. Edited March 11, 2015 by <ian> angel_kaye13, MathCat and thepinkdragon76 3

I'm sitting on my three because I haven't decided yet (and haven't heard from everyone). I don't think people declining will automatically get the wait listed people asking accepted. I seriously doubt anyone is thinking of you (angry wait listed poster) when making a decision that impacts their entire life. The schools give us until April 15th for a reason.
