I didn't post that USC acceptance, but I can tell you that they did send out acceptances yesterday. They weren't from the department (so no notice of funding).

Hmm ok, mine still says under review. That's probably bad news then.

Did you using the apply yourself form or the YOUsc application checker (I didn't know about it until like two weeks ago)?

Because they posted my acceptance on the YOUsc application checker.

I checked YouSC. Oh well, time to start preparing for the next round.

I'm sorry to have brought the bad news to you. :\

But you're right -- there is always another year. And honestly, you might be on the waitlist.

Has anyone heard back from Comm (RPC) at Northwestern? I know that Performance Studies sent out invites for interviews. I heard a rumor (so take it with a grain of salt) that all interview notices were supposed to be sent out by 5:00 PM on Friday (1/23).

Expand

No, but I remain hopeful as it seems that different programs have worked on different schedules in previous years.

Has anyone received any recent email/notice from UPenn Annenberg yet?

Other than the email saying to reserve the date for prospective students day, nope. Doesn't look like they'll do anything until Valentine's Day weekend-ish.

I got an email saying my application has been reviewed, but they couldn't proceed any further because they haven't received my official transcripts in the post yet. ARGH!!

So I don't really want to point fingers at anyone (even though I do), but I had problems with my transcripts getting to USC (back in October, though). Of all seven schools I submitted application, USC was the only one that didn't get my items. SOOOOOOOOO...I feel ya. It'll work out, though. They would have outwardly rejected you had they not wanted you. So get those transcripts in!

At least that's a positive! I feel so much better about my application now - thanks! :)

I don't know whether to resend or not. I sent my transcripts mid December so I understand mail processing would have been slow being the Christmas and New Year period and USC was closed between the Dec 25 and Jan 3. But the email said it would take 8 - 10 business days to process the documents, but then 12 - 14 business days for it to show up in the system?!?! Maybe I should just get it couriered... <_<

Hey everyone!

Anyone waiting on Canadian universities? I've applied to two MA programs in Montreal and anxiously awaiting to hear back, although I'm not expecting any news until March.

Good luck to you all! :)

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to post here and join the party. I kept meaning to post here while i was applying but i've let it slip by somehow. Man was that stressful. I dont think i'd ever wish that on my enemies but I got through it and I think i'm done.

So the main thing i am looking at studying is Health Communication, persuasion and computer mediated communication. I finished my MA at Michigan State in Media and Information at the Comm school and absolutely loved it. I have every intention on returning to the PhD but i've also applied to other schools im interested in working with the most. I've applied to MSU-Media and Information, Texas A&M, Oklahoma University-Comm, University of Tennessee-Comm and Info, and Florida State.

As of right now i have only heard from MSU. FYI they are currently doing PhD interview in case anyone here is applying there. So besides getting an interview there, its been pretty quiet so far which is kinda hard truthfully. Most of my schools have later dates so i imagine it'll get busy in late Feb/Mar?  The school that i'm really hoping for (Outside of MSU) is Oklahoma University. There are two profs in the comm school there that i've conversed with that i absolutely loved talking too and they both think that i'd be a really good fit there so i'm hopeful that i'll at least get an interview there. I think there is someone on this forum that is at OU right now @lyrehc I believe. Anyways, it seems like a lot of people here have had some great advice so i thought i would just chime in, say thanks and wish everyone the best of luck!

Just wanted to say that I work at USC and the Student Information System was built in 1977 and is still in use today. They have to process all the transcripts via manual entry so I would call to verify they've received your transcripts. I have several friends at Marshall and their applications said incomplete and they had to call to make sure the application would say complete so it would get reviewed. Crazy right?

1977?! Wow. No words. How many people do they have entering all this data during busy periods like these?

That makes things a little difficult for me. I'm ahead of LA by 16 hours and international phone rates are pricey, especially when people put you on hold.

Thanks for the info though, I'll get on to it.

SO FOR REAL...has no one heard anything from Northwestern's Communication Studies program? I'm on the edge of my seat (and not even hopeful at this point). Put me out of my misery, y'all.

I applied to the Screen Cultures Program, which is intertwined  with Comm Studies , and I haven't heard anything either, maybe both programs will announce interviews soon....

I had an interview with Texas A&M last week and it sounded like they were hoping to send out decisions in the near future. However, I spoke with someone from the rhetoric and public address faculty so the different specializations may be handling things differently. Good luck and congrats on the interview!!

Lol, I've been actively watching for Screen Cultures (and the Interdisciplinary Theatre program) because all three are under School of Communication. Heads up in case you're called: interviews will be the last weekend in February (can't remember exact dates...like 26-29 or something...(Of course, that's if they follow the same schedule as Performance Studies...which they should).

Yeah its pretty Crazy. It should be going to a new system here in the next few years but yes all of it is manual. So unfortunately for USC the SIS department is always busy as i've told the schools receives hundreds of applicants a week and peaks during the fall. I would try a skype-to-landline call if you can I think the rates are $0.02 a min if i remember right. I have a brother in Indonesia.

Good Luck on your interview too! that's awesome.  Yeah I beginning to think it really comes down to fit truthfully. I really liked the program there but I could really only identify with one professor and loosely a second prof there. So i'm not surprised if I get wait-listed or just outright denied.  Also it was the first app i turned in which I'm learning that my apps have gotten better as i kept turning them in. Anyone else experience that?
