  1. For confirmation on the Yale interview thing showing up a few days early indicating an interview: got the official interview notice!! Signed up for February 28th. I'll probably head to New Haven on the 27th if anyone else will be there & wants to get coffee / pizza / beer!
  2. WashU trying to bump up their application fee revenue like
  3. Since both Arts Practicum and Tyler SPI/SSI require references, it's probably best to let them know now that you might need more letters—but you could probably wait until applying. If this year isn't it, I have a list of residencies with applications ready to go. The biggest one I'd like to do is this one: BOLT residency. It's a Chicago based residency with a focus on career development & studios a 15 minute walk from my current apartment. I've thought about moving to NYC or Jersey City and spending next application season focused only on NYC-area schools, but I feel like that would detract from my practice with the stress of trying to find affordable studio space & making new contacts. Would rather focus on pumping out a ton of new work.
  4. Glad this went well, Cengstro!!! Hoping that you get good news back! More options are always good.
  5. I went back a few years in the forum & it seems they update everything at 9pm ET on Fridays. ?
  6. Whoaaa!!! Are they downsizing? My impression was too that painting had ~10 spots a year.
  7. Congrats @Poodle-Doodle!!!! Are you doing in person? If so, let me know when you're in town!
  8. An update: the awaiting scheduling interview button is gone from my application now.
  9. Hoping for you guys they haven't updated everyone's!!! It's still early, given decisions are usually updated on Fridays.
  10. it's still there, sorry D: Applying to Yale is like buying a lottery ticket; you have great work and I'm sure will get a good offer from somewhere!!
  11. Thank you!!! Nothing from Rutgers yet, but they have said they won't send interview requests until mid-Feb so not stressing about them.
  12. Wow things are picking up!! Congrats to those who got interviews!!!!
  13. Congrats @Poodle-Doodle !!!! @desertdog Daonne, the coordinator for Rutgers, said that we should hear back on February 15 about interview decisions. Have a feeling this will be the week for Tyler & Yale interview decisions. ?
  14. @kindaafraid sending warm vibes your way in these uncertain times. Your fears are very valid and you have to protect yourself to the best of your ability. But don't give up! As disgusting as the actions of the Trump administration are and even though he was elected, many Americans are also fighting to preserve your ability to chase your dreams. Many schools are pledging to protect its students by providing legal fees if needed, not disclosing immigration status, etc. These schools have immigration lawyers that will fight for your F1 visa. Like Mina said, hate is very real even on liberal campuses, both systematic (my school's police also racially profiled black students) and occurring on a loud-but-small basis (there have been neo-nazi flyers appearing, but the majority of the community is very angry and quickly tearing them down). Art is more important than ever to tell your story—don't lose hope!
  15. @franster I'm sure they'll take a bit to decide—hoping you get a positive response soon! Tyler's FMS program seems really great; Jesse Harrod is awesome.
  16. Any site collecting visit data is going to use what are called first party cookies. Maybe one of the accounts is set to filter out your own views? I've experienced the same thing with google analytics vs squarespace analytics.
  17. Thank you!!! in response, bc this was on my grad school binge list (actually a very good show! was very skeptical at first, but it does a really nice job of character development): Analytics spam sucks. Got a bunch of spam in November with the language set as "Secret.ɢoogle.com You are invited! Enter only with this ticket URL. Copy it. Vote for Trump!" before I managed to filter it out. .____.
  18. I am going to be extra sad if I don't get into Tyler as that's my partner's name & the "Tyler rejected you" jokes are going to be unbearable lol ...
  19. omg just had a mini heart attack and checked mine too, but then I remembered mine has said that since everything was submitted.
  20. I don't think SAIC's post-bacc is super competitive—I know they offer spots to people who don't get into the MFA program as well. My friend did SAIC post bacc and enjoyed it. If you stay in Chicago, you still have access to their facilities after you're done and it's a very, very good way of networking in the Chicago scene (which is dominated by SAIC alum; it can be hard to break into without SAIC connections imo). Brandeis also has a post-bacc, which I've heard good things about. I'd reccomend looking into Tyler's and VCU's Summer Intensives! They are 7-week programs, so not a full post-bacc experience, but a much more affordable option. I did Tyler's program as I felt similarly to you—I switched to visual arts from math only during my 3rd year and felt like a needed an "art school" experience. It really, really helped me gain momentum to push my practice post-undergrad. I also feel like I know what to expect from grad school now. And I met a ton of really fantastic artists! I'm happy to answer any questions about the Tyler program. 21. @Vespertine congrats on the first interview of the forum!! Crossing my fingers you get your acceptance! Looking through the results tab, it looks like someone also got an for a Tyler Fibers interview on Sunday. Congrats as well to whoever you are! Hoping that us painting & sculpture folk will hear back soon as well~
  22. @BlCEO from yale.edu!
