  1. Figured out how to make a group! Here's the link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1682193748672153/
  2. San Francisco State University https://www.facebook.com/groups/1682193748672153/
  3. 1. Why did you choose the program you're going to? What really sold it for you? I chose San Francisco State University because they offer a specialization in Augmentative and Alternative Communication. No other schools I applied to or looked into had even half as many faculty members whose experience is in AAC. I also liked how the program had 2 externship opportunities - 1 school/children 1 medical/adult. Not all program offer this - the school where I went for my post-bacc only guarantees school/children and you have to be lucky to get an adult/medical internship. 2. How many schools did you apply to I applied to 7 schools. 3 Acceptances, 3 Wait-lists, 1 rejection 3. If you haven't decided, what is going to be the factor that pushes you to decide? The factor that weighed heaviest for me was money. After talking to my parents last night, I finally decided on SFSU! Although the cost of living will be 2x-3x as much as LA, I know that the program is a better fit for me than the other 2 schools I was accepted. My second choice was ASU. Although SFSU and ASU was calculated to cost almost the same, I'd have to take more loans out for tuition for ASU than I'm planning to to attend SFSU.
  4. I called and emailed the credential office to make sure that they received my COC - they verified Monday afternoon. It took the entire week from the time they confirmed to get the email from SFSU. My guess is that they're still processing everything and it takes a little while for the school to update their records? I'd call on Monday to be sure and ask if you'll be receiving your official acceptance before the deadline for (most) other schools next Friday.
  5. Aww im glad im not alone in this. Yes! I'll be attending SFSU. I volunteered for an orthopedic center that had small AAC groups with school-age kids and I absolutely loved it! Thanks for the advice for funding! I definitely will look into it. I hope Boulder (if that's where you're going) opens up opportunities for you to gain experience in AAC!
  6. Has anyone (or do you know of people) that passed on funding to go to a school that is a better fit that didn't offer funding? Im accepting my offer to a school that offers specialized training in what I'm interested in (AAC) and turning down funding (50% my first year) from the school I did my post-bacc. I feel guilty for turning down a pretty good financial package but I know the program isn't a good fit for me and what I'm looking for in a graduate program. Considering my experience with the department and after talking to some grad students who are in that school's program, it was an overall consensus of "I wish I had gone somewhere else." I guess I just need reassurance that (in this case) program quality trumps money? Haha this whole decision process has been extremely stressful
  7. With one week to go before decision deadlines, I finally received the official recommendation for admissions! Will be accepting SFSU's offer two questions: 1) Does anyone know if SFSU is offering any funding/grants? 2) How does one start a Facebook group? Lol
  8. I completed my COC the day I got my conditional acceptance and mailed it out once I got the official notice from CTC last Thursday. I'm all the way in LA so I wonder if it's still going through the mail. I just called the Crediential and Graduate Services Center and their office is closed and won't reopen until Monday. Hopefully they received it and I'll get an email soon! Thanks for letting me know!
  9. I don't think so. I didn't see one in the other forum topic with the list of facebook groups. on a different note - does anyone know when SFSU is going to send out official letters? I want to receive an official admittance letter before turning down my other offers
  10. Finally received an email from Redlands - waitlisted. If I'm admitted off the waitlist, I only have 24 hours to respond with my decision. Is this typical of admittance off the waitlist?
  11. Has anyone heard from Washington State University?
  12. same here -- i haven't gotten anything. even if its a rejection, i still would like to know a definitive answer instead of my admissions status being up in the air
  13. I'm 85% sure I'll be attending!! I did my COC application and fingerprints the same day so hopefully it'll go through quickly. I just want the official admissions recommendation letter haha! The only thing I'm really worried about is having difficulties finding somewhere to live either in the city of surrounding areas because my BF will be moving up also. Most room share ads I've seen are only for single occupancy
  14. I'm still waiting on Redlands too. Im going to assume a rejection if it's been this long and haven't gotten anything. Siiiiigh
  15. Thanks so much for the advice! Its definitely a lot to take in all at once. I haven't had roommates in quite some time so it'll definitely be an adjustment but hopefully if I choose SFSU, I find some really good ones haha. I definitely don't want to pass up my #1 choice because of financial reasons but I definitely don't want to be drowning in student loans after I graduate.
