Hey guys. Just wanted to get any info about people who have retaken courses online as a non-degree seeking student. Has anyone done this or know of places you can do this? It looks like I won't be getting in anywhere and am wondering where to do this/cost/if it's worth it/if schools would replace an old grade with the new? Retaking a few speech classes could bump my GPA which I know is why I haven't been able to get in anywhere. Any info is appreciated!!

April 15th Waitlist Results
HooHooHooHoosiers replied to Rorororosy's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Not a 'result" but has anyone heard anything from Northern Arizona since the email about not all decisions have been made? I mean I haven't gotten a rejection so I guess that is a good sign but I'm not sure if I should contact them or keep waiting? I don't want to find out way after the fact that the cohort is actually full! This is for the full time track. -

Has anyone else still not heard anything after that email about waiting to see if any spots were open? For the full time track -
April 15th Waitlist Results

@Zeen321 Yes it was through postal mail then too. I had called after getting waitlisted and she basically just told me she would tell them that I had called; never heard another thing. And yes, they do waitlist a TON of people...like in the hundreds....but it seems like they do take a good amount from the waitlist so who knows! -

I was waitlisted there the first time I applied to school and I never heard anything from them again so that is not encouraging haha -

I am also waitlisted and have not heard anything since that initial letter. I would hope they do it by email though since it took like two weeks for me to get that letter. -

Good to know they are actually taking from the waitlist! I had emailed them back when I got waitlisted to see how many people were on it and my ranking on it but never got a reply..- 3 replies

April 15th Waitlist Results
HooHooHooHoosiers replied to Rorororosy's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I am on five waitlists! It stinks...the waiting. I did however receive an email from one of the schools asking if I was still interested and when I replied yes it seemed as if I would be taken off the list as long as there was a spot...at least I'm hoping I read into that correctly! How long do they usually give you to make a decision once you are taken off a waitlist?? -
I am on the waitlist but was just wondering if there are still people out there who haven't heard from ETSU? It seems that way looking at the results page so I am just wondering if maybe they actually are going to do another round of acceptances for those of you? Does anyone have any info about the waitlist, like how many are actually on it?
-
I am waitlisted at 5 schools. I emailed two of them asking how many were on the waitlist and if they were able to tell me where I am on the list. Neither have emailed me back so I'm guessing that means they don't have answers to my questions at this point. Kind of frustrating especially when some of them start in the summer. I would like to know if I actually have a chance or not.

What schools are you waiting to hear from?
HooHooHooHoosiers replied to slptobe92's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Do you live in Illinois? or near? I live in Hawaii so it would make sense that I would be the very last one to get their letter, but I am just so anxious because it is the last school I need to hear from! -

Has anyone else still not heard from st. Xavier? I emailed on Monday and was told letters were in the mail, but still nothing! -
Typically, yes.
-
To those who haven't heard from Saint Xavier, I have been told that letters are in the mail now and should arrive within a few days.
-
Still haven't heard from st.xavier. I'm thinking about calling tomorrow if my mail is yet again empty.
-
Shoot. I would much rather them be during the day. I'm only on the waitlist though so we will see!

I saw on a 2014 etsu post that classes were usually in the evenings, like 5:30 to 8. Does anyone know if this is still how it is?

Options for not getting in?
HooHooHooHoosiers replied to kgehlha's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I'm from rural Indiana too! When I didn't get in the first time around as a senior I tried looking into SLPA jobs and even tried getting advice from my advisor. Even he basically said it is practically impossible to a. find a position and b. get certified to even be one in Indiana. Unless you are already doing it, it seems very difficult to get certified. I too work in ABA now. For my position you only need a 2 year degree, and I would not say the pay is "great". My company contracts with the DOE and I get paid hourly. I don't get paid for holidays, breaks, or even if my student is sick or doesn't show up that day. It can be hard work but it is also very fulfilling. An option would be to go on and get your Masters in this instead. I would definitely suggest starting out as a therapist though to even see if you would like it. This application round I am waitlisted at 5 schools, got rejected to 3, and have yet to hear from one. The first time I got rejected to all but one waitlist. I definitely think the experience has helped my applications. Hopefully one of these waitlists works out for me! Good luck to you as well! -
I saw that too. What's weird is that I know they waitlist the majority of the people they don't outright accept, so I feel like we should've heard by now. Unless there was an insane amount of applications and it's just taking forever for them to mail them out. That's why they should use email!!

Waitlist/Rejections. ADVICE PLEASE
HooHooHooHoosiers replied to AspiringSLP2be's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Wow. Reading this felt so surreal! To start off, I too will be 25 in a month, cum GPA is 3.3, have been working as an ABA therapist for over a year, GRE is basically the exact same, your major GPA is much better than mine though! I am currently on 5 waitlists, have gotten 3 rejections, and am waiting to hear on one more school. It is very frustrating for sure! At this point,I honestly do not know what I am going to to do next if I don't get in. I will probably go ahead with a 3rd attempt, but after that, I don't know. I think the experience definitely helped me to get all these waitlists because the first time around I got denied by every single school and one waitlist. I feel your pain trust me! Here's to hoping these waitlists work out for us!!! Did you apply to different schools this time? I swear it took me six months to narrow down where I wanted to apply this time. -

I recently received an email from NAU basically saying that the first round of acceptances have been sent out, but that all decisions have not been made. It said we will not hear until after April 15 if more spots are available. My question is, is this essentially a waitlist situation? It did not say I have been put on the waitlist but it was not a rejection either. From the results page I see that others received this too as well as rejections. Was anyone actually told they were put on a waitlist?? This is for the full time track.
