http://www.admin.graduate.ucf.edu/programprofile/ if you go to this website you can click on communication sciences and then fill in past semesters to see how many they accepted in the past!! -

I think you should still have faith! A few weeks back my professor told us that they had sent out some acceptances and all rejections and that if you hadn't heard anything that you were still in the running! Yes I'm starting in summer and our Facebook group only has like 12 members so don't lose hope just check your portal over the next week! -

UCF requires a yes/no by April 1st for those admitted for summer, so hopefully starting tomorrow or the next day once people start turning down their acceptances they will send out more! Good luck!! -
I don't know anything about Ole Miss but I attend undergrad at UCF so just my two cents on the program here: the program is great and the clinic is state of the art! All of the grad students love it and I really love all of the supervisors that are there whenever I'm in the clinic. The professors truly care about everyone and want you to learn, succeed, and thrive. Also, Orlando is huge and there are SO many options for placements when it comes time for externships. If you were accepted as an out of field app won't you have to take more classes at whichever school you choose? Sorry if thats wrong thats just the impression I was under! If you want, the next time I'm in the clinic I can ask around grad student that was out of field and see how much longer it took them to graduate! Ultimately, you are going to get a great education no matter where you end up. ASHA's requirements make it so that you will take generally the same curriculum wherever you go. I don't think you can go wrong either way and when you finish you'll be an in demand SLP no matter what! Just factor in costs and where you'll be more comfortable and you'll be fine good luck!

She said the same thing to me but truthfully she didn't seem very confident lol

I received an acceptance email on feb 19th but I've only heard of a few others who were notified as well so I'm honestly not sure. I would call the department!!
-
I'm still waiting on USF and UF. UCF sent out summer admissions decisions - maybe not all of them, but at least some. They won't start sending out fall decisions until the end of the month at the earliest

I didn't hear anything either! :/ -
University of central Florida! And thank you! Took a lot of hard work but it's definitely possible
-
I got accepted with a 3.2 overall undergrad. I just showed a ton of improvement in my ComDis classes. Hope that motivates others to never give up.
-
Oh no I'm so sorry to hear that your family will be in my thoughts and I hope your dad is doing better!
-
Did you end up giving them a call? I'm curious as to what they said because they told a classmate of mine that they would be hearing back on Friday and she still has not been notified
-
Of course! It sucks feeling anxious and constantly refreshing everything and not knowing what's going on so I'm glad I could help! Good luck to you both as well
-
I have not heard back from the school yet they told me I should be hearing back within the next week or so! From what I gathered they review piles of applications at a time and then send out the results before moving on to the next group if you call she should be able to tell you when your application will be reviewed!
-
I had this issue and called the admissions department and they said it was fine that basically the online portal is a part of USF graduate admissions but not really a part of the ComDis department and they only send information there after people have accepted/declined offers. If you wanna play it safe give them a call they're very helpful!

Southern Applicants

I applied to 3 FL schools (ucf, UF, and Usf), and university of Tennesse. I was accepted to UCF on Friday via email (for summer session- fall won't hear back for a few more weeks at least) and was told by USF that they are reviewing in piles/waves and that I should hear next week if that helps! Nothing from Tennessee yet! Just my two cents good luck!! -
Hi! So I have worked for a few years for a large company that has a policy of not giving references. I have not one but 8 managers, and while they would love to vouch for my character they aren't allowed to. Apparently the story is that the company does not want to be linked to someone if they claim that they're a good person who later messes up. So, what are the odds that programs will contact me for references of the places I put on my resume? I can't leave my work experience off my resume because then it will look like I haven't been doing much for years, but I feel like if they contact me for a number and I can't provide one it will seem weird. Thanks!!

Thank you @twinguy7 that's a great idea! My last 60 hours counted backwards will end up somewhere between a 3.8 and a 3.95, but my last 60 counted FSU's way is a 3.58, which is a pretty significant difference so I was kind of panicking! Hopefully if I address it in my statement they'll see that I received nearly all A's in my CSD related classes and ignore that awful semester of C's in my business classes that I detested!

Hi everyone! I just made an account to post this question but I stalk the site quite frequently So most of the schools that I'm interested in applying to at the end of fall semester say they look at the last 60 hours GPA. I always assumed that that meant that they counted back from the last semester you finished before applying- I'm applying after fall semester, so I thought they would include that semester of 15 hours, and then my previous 3 semesters to equal 60. However, I emailed someone at Florida State because I had a question and she ended up telling me that, for FSU, they actually start counting at the 60th credit hour that you earn and include everything after that. I was pursuing a different degree before CSD, so after my 60th hour I will have an additional 90 hours not just another 60. The difference in my GPA when calculated FSUs way versus the way I had assumed is substantial, so I was just curious if anyone knew if that was just the way FSU does it or if that's the standard way to calculate last 60. Thank you so much and good luck to everyone!
